This is one of my first conversions, in fact I remember very well that it was heavily inspired by a conversion built on the site of the deceased Tla, conversion I was also coming good, just the clothes you can see that is not the best, I did not really want to retouch or redo it, the worst part was definitely the painting, so here I decided to restore it, also because this piece has the best female face along with that of Arwen second version. Still missing a lot, especially on the horse, and I would say she is ended, more or less.

You've delivered a beautifully painted face!
Maybe the best-sculpted female face of the range along with the second Arwen model.
Well done. The conversion is also a craftsman job, one can't tell where the sculpted clothes begin. The only thing is, realistically, that the 2-hand sword grip is a bit awkward while mounted.
However, I'm really jealous of this model of yours. :)

Hi again. You've got my brain going on these as I've wanted some Black Guard for ages but have short arms and deep pockets when it comes to GW! This could be a great way to build up a small force of them. You've inspired me. Aaaaaah! A distraction from painting! When will I ever finish? When I'm old... older and grey (though that will be hard to tell with my shiny pate).

I read your text again. When you say you made a master, do you mean that you sculpted your own shield? Also, what do you mean by 'printed'? Do you mean that you pressed your shield into a soft material such as clay before casting into it?

Would there be any chance of some larger pictures of them?

Cheers,
Natarn.

yes, I have sculpted the shield, it was a commission for an Italian friend, then I made the molds, different, some silicone, others in hard clay, the copies I made in resin Prochima. for photos when I have time I put some of both the original and the copies, the copies with hard clay mold are not perfect, the copies made from silicone molds are better than those in clay, but the silicone molds after a tot copies have deteriorated.

Here is a picture of the molds, the original and two copies that are discard , I have no more than good at the moment, the most damaged has been made on a mold made with clay dido :), in practice it is also the one plasticine, but it is too soft.

Thank you for the information and picture, it's interesting to see how you did it.

I'll have a think and try a few options as you have done to see what works best.

A silicone mould with metal cast would be good but not really cost effective for a small run of shields unless added to a mould for another model. That's an idea. Maybe I'll do that. If/when I have a go, I'll show some pictures in my WIP thread and let you know how it went.

Thanks for the inspiration. :)
