I love the colors on the horse! It's difficult to keep colors dark while making highlights noticeable, but you definitely managed.

Also great work on the diorama project itself; it definitely does the scene justice.

Thank you for all the nice comments guys, much appreciated!
Over Christmas I made some sketches of Dunlendings and a Mahud. I might sculpt some of these, the S&C Challenge would have been good for that but as I do not have any DOS army I will probably not sculpt a DOS miniature...
If interested, check this.

Hi guys,

I've recently finished three Mahud for a 500 points Mahud/Harad army for a tournament.

And I converted a spare resin Gothmog to a warg rider captain. I took some parts from a metal warg rider and placed him on the warg chieftain. Nothing special so. (The fourth warg leg will be glued on soon...)

I'm hoping for some more comments... and critics as well.

Best wishes

That Warg Rider is great. The Mahud look well done.

I too really like your Mahud, especially as theyre not just lightly tanned like the GW lol. My only criticism is that bone-dagger/sword looks very large

Just went through everything. Incredible work. The painting is first class, and the sculpting is great! I too love the "resting" poses. Great work!

You've got a good skin tone there for the Mahud which the war paint sets off nicely.

Thanks for all the nice comments, that is a big motivation! :D
Today I saw an incredible painted Uruk commander on HdR Tabletop and remembered my resin one. As I collect dunlendings I thought I'd convert him into a dunlending (or maybe even a dunlending captain).

It has been the first time I sculpted plate armour as it is pretty difficult. I'm quite proud of it, please don't be that hard... I think the development is vizible, at first I sculpted the lower right side, than the body part and last but not least the lower left side. (From the viewer's view)

I am not sure what I will do on the arms and legs, comments and critics are welcome!

Best wishes

I quite like the model. You did q good job, I think if you paint him up to look human he'll look human. meaning that you won't say "what's a man's head doing on a Uruk body? "

I know what you mean and I think your right (like the bone sword, it is really a bit big...). But I think with the new hair he looks a bit more human like, doesn't he?

I had a second spare standart bearer, so I thought I would convert him into an axe man.

I am thinking about giving him a bow and a quiver, what do you think?

Thanks! Here is a quick tutorial for the plate mail:

1. Start with doing the basis by putting and smoothing some Green Stuff on your miniature. It has to be a bit thick, you'll later see why.
Image

2. Then you [b]push[/] the green stuff in regular diagonal lines upwards, I think a picture can explain it better:
Image

Image

3. Then you do the same in the other direction. Keep pushing the sculpting tool to make the plates three-dimensonal. I'll show some pictures again:

Today I've finished my wargrider captain. I hope you like it, C&C welcome!

This looks almost regal, the pose is brilliant. Your green stuff work is nice and I like the mini tutorial.
Not much to fault, in fact nothing.
