D'oh, only showing 6 Goblins in the proof photo but I've added another 2 unpainted ones (honest) to make it up to the required 8 miniatures plus the Captain. Do I need to reshoot the proof pic?

The actual 9 miniatures are shown in the 2nd photo.

Was about to move these guys onto the painting table so it's great that they have coincided with the challenge. :)

@Fin: Those Normans are awesome, do they scale well with LoTR minis?

They scale perfectly. Somewhere between the tiny early ones and the huge late miniatures: http://www.finiatures.blogspot.de/2013/ ... rmans.html

Theyre perfect for foot versions of some norman knights I've got! Must pick some up before they go out of stock, nice blog btw, love the westeros stuff in particular! 8)

Hello everyone,

This will only be my second ever entry in a painting challenge and is great incentive to get my army ready for the 300 point tournament!

So here is the proof pic of my Wood Elf warband consisting of a Stormcaller, 6 bows and 6 spears:

There are some great entries this month and I'm really looking forward to seeing all the finished warbands.

I think I will give the challenge a go this month because:

a) It's a great excuse to work on my massive backlog! and
b) I may actually improve my painting, and
c) it looks like fun!

I'll post some proof photos later (at work now) but I'll be painting some Uruk-hai.

I'll be getting a proof shot done soon. Would've had it done before, but had to check with DMS that it was an acceptable warband for this ;)

Completed the first Uruk for my warband, not sure about the brown cloth I might try to make it darker.

@whitewizard, what model are you using as a stormcaller?

It's the GW Modheim Elf Mage.

I couldn't justify buying the Galadhrim Command set just for 1 Stormcaller...

It is 1-2mm taller than a normal LotR Hero but is barely noticable at table height, so I'm happy with it.

Here we go! Although, due to a headcold and major backache, I forgot the Easterling banner bearer and then didn't feel like getting up to get it. Will picture him later.

Not by me. Repainting to fit my army.

Note: he has a blue highlight at the moment as well. If people want me to do a close-up so that they can see what the difference is when I've repainted it, I will. When I get a picture of the banner bearer.

Conversions are finished, the Normans should look a little more middle-earthish now:

Pic shows the GS work before trimming and details. Painting process has started today, can't wait to finish them...^^

I've been meaning to get back into these for a while, but never quite had the right models to enter. Luckily this month I had 12 Citadel Guard led by Beregond waiting to be painted.

Image

I feel I'm being a bit ambitious with a warband of 12, but hey ho!

Thanks for sorting out all the warband options DMS - and for keeping the challenge running smoothly. Much appreciated. 8)

I'm hoping to finish all 6 hunter orcs on wargs. I've done some minor conversions to all these adding some extra weapons, pouches and bed rolls (even orcs need comfort!). I'm converting one of these to a 'captain' - he's the one with the saddle bag I sculpted on (handy for trophy storage after crushing pesky dwarfs). Hope this is OK.

Do we post WIP pictures, if so here, or on our own WIP threads?
