Sounds to me that you're the one made of money if you plan to get rid of the Mahud you already own then buy them back at twice the price when they go finecast.

@DMS why spend £50-100+ on 1 model, when you could spend say £40 and get 8 models including 2 of the one everyone wants. Does the material and fact that it is rare in this one, make it that much more important. I like some rare models - but not because they are rare, because i like the actual models.

I'm not sure I understand GtW - 2 of the one every one wants?
Why would i spend £40.00 on models I already have ?
I would rather spend £100 on a model i don't have - i offer no excuse i am a collector and i can't help myself lol. So close to completion now.

To some people, yes, it's the fact that they are rare and only a handful were made that makes it valuable. The fact that they may later be released in finecast doesn't drop the price of the metals for a collector.

It's like coin collectors; certain coins from certain years were minted in extremely low quantities. Of course, there are millions of other pennies from several other years, but those were mass-produced and thus aren't sought after.

The one everyone wants = the rare pose. The reason I say duplicates is because some people actually want an army, and like the variation. Yes you get the old ones too, but is it not more logical to pay less and get a few you don't want as much. You remind me of this lady that went in ASda once, she wanted one of something, lets say it cost £5 for one, but it was actualy cheaper to buy 2, lets say it cost £4.25 for two.

Againn Mr BrentS, you do seem to have everything.

@Hurin, I don't understand the way a collector's mind works.

Ah yes i see what you mean now althogh am still more than happy to shell out on this guy. There is nothing from the current GW range which i need now. I've spent 10 years amassing this stuff and am now hunting purely unreleased stuff. Another one off the list.

@Gothmog, yeah I'd say 99.9% of people would rather have quantity and want the different poses for variety's sake. I, for sure, would happily take them in FC rather than shell out hundreds for the metal cast. Then again, I only collect the armies that I like and even those not to utter completion.

It does often seem that the rare sculpts are the coolest ones though. This Orc, for example, is the nicest of the Stalkers imo.

Hurin, I agree that they re often the coolest poses, of the Stalkers, the two crouched poses are my least fave, and of the mahud, the outstretched spear guy.

I don't understand all this confusion. Kev and I don't really play the game we are painter collectors. Collectors are after the very rare. The hunt is 90% of the fun. The pay-off of seeing the stalker picture and eventually holding it in your hand makes up the other 10%. Brent you are a wizard.

I would love to be able to collect but I have too many fingers in other gaming pies so I'm just sticking with the Easterlings and Black Numenoreans for now (saying that I have another allied army coming to join them in the new year).

I would love to see your collections, it would be like a museum exhibition
