Formation movement

Hi fellas, could anyone please tell me if when setting up to start game, do companies have to line up behind the spearhead. I.e one behind the other. Or can you have and move companies in say banks of two wide, or does it have to be one company wide until charging.

It can be any formation on any moment, so you could place them in a big wall next to each other instead of behind each other.
