How do you get an Army banner? When I look through each profile I only see a banner bearer, so do you upgrade to an Army banner and what's the cost?

I believe there is no such thing... Only normal banners, every warrior can upgrade to one.

Some of the Fortunes and Fates allow you to upgrade a normal Banner into an Army Banner eg, Banner of the Free Peoples. There is one good one and one evil one in the main rules, which can be given to any banner, and then there are special ones for elves, dwarves, Dol Amroth, Isengard, Harad, Angmar etc in the Battlehosts book, these cst more than the other two but come with an extra unique special rule as well as Army Banner rules.

And some heros are classed as army banners (Gothmog - overlord)

Does anyone actually use an Army Banner I'm thinking of making an attacking elf army (sick of staying back and bunkering) and a unified charge seems like a really good benefit for what would be one company of elves

Certainly with Elves, I don't think you can spare all the points (remember all the other regiments must have a banner as well) for this trick. It would work better for someone like Mordor or MM.

didn't know you needed more than one banner and a hero if all else fails read the rules

Army Banners are in the Fortune and Fate section. They cost an extra 50 points. I have used it very successfully in my Mordor and Rohan armies.

The problem/bonus for me is that I will already have a small army so equipping most of my units with Banners is only going to worsen this but as my army is small I won't need that many banners to charge a large part of my army with one go.

I have to decide whether I won't a highly mobile (elves already move fast) army which could die very easily if something goes wrong or a less mobile version that can take more damage but won't be as effective at counter attacking.

Also I don't have the battlehost book so my army banner will have no special rule like Rohan does
