And my entry finally done - still bad pics but did them with my mobile, maybe I'll have some time to find decent camera :-D . Accually nth special, I was to lazy to correct mistakes - I should do some glazes, but jumped for another mini. Maybe I will open gallery here again(I did have one on the old one One Ring), and put some pics of my works there...

Well I've made a start. Didn't think it would take this long, but waiting for paint to dry is hard work :)

I'm quite happy with the armour considering I had nothing to highlight it with other than bleached bone + the metallic undercoat (boltgun metal). The cloak has been through 3 stages of scorched brown to grey. Not looking forward to painting gimis face... also what colours to people tend to paint Gimlis red tunic? I don't want a pink mix, the only red I have is blood red and a variety of browns and bleached bone, any thoughts?

All the entries so far look great - particularly like IsleS - the whole scene is awesome

I will try and get this finished in time. Need motivation to paint.

Cheers guys, I agree the competition is certainly close. I've never seen so many handsome dwarves!

DMS - I tried the blood red/ scorched brown combo, looks pretty neat but the whole model is a bit too dark for me. I've therefore added bubonic brown to the red/brown mix and bleached bone to that before a reddy brown wash. Here he is 95% complete, got to fix a few things. The cloak has had a wash to merge the colours better. He's nothing special but he fits with the Aragorn and Legolas models already painted. All in all, this cast of him was good fun to paint!

Nice job Eaothen, those eyes add character! Speaking of eyes I haven't bothered with mine, but here he is all finshed and ready to start counting... "I'm on 2 already!"

Well, here's my Gimli. I decided not to make him a standard-bearer after all, so I gave him a second axe instead (since I lost the original throwing axe). I also made a little Balin's Tomb out of foamcore, and added the Book of Mazarbul. These close-up photos are cruel—I can see all the flaws so clearly—he looks a lot better on the tabletop.
