Painting Challenge: Aragorn!



Hello everyone! Welcome to the thread for the July Painting Challenge!

Rules

1. A miniature is decided upon before each monthly painting challenge, this months' being Aragorn. It is not required that you paint this mini, however it is preferred. Here is a list of preferred miniatures in order of most preferred to least preferred:

* Any Aragorn Miniature.
* Arathorn/Halbarad.
* Dunedain.

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme).

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of July 31st, 2011. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. In previous painting challenges, the winner and runner-up recieved prizes in the form of gold coins, however with the websites current situation, gold coins are not available to give as prizes, so no prize is available at the moment.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Sorry for the double post guys but I need to know something, I have never used a white base coat before and I was wondering if I should use one for this challenge?

Personally I prefer white from black(not only for painting minis)...
Anyway if you want to try somethign new then go for it...
Anyway I hope I will see more competitors this month...

I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means.

I've got Skull White on my list of paints to advance on new figures. I think i'll give it a try, if it doesn't go to plan, oh well, I can just paint over it with black.

somehow I'm already done! , shame as I have been looking forward to painting him for a while. I just need to base Aragorn and will upload the image sunday as I will be working tommorrow.

This is my first painting challenge, do we upload the completed images to this thread?

Just got to say guys that I get my money on the 15th of July and we go away for a week on the sixteenth so I can't really take part in this challenge. Best of luck to all the competitors and I can't wait to check in on this thread when I return.

My understanding is that we have to post a picture of the unpainted miniature in this thread at the start of the challenge to show that it was not previously painted and then post the completed paint job at the end.

well here is my Aragorn at Amon Hen, unfortunately my camera has not done it any justice, perhaps I will upload anouther pic when there is better lighting or something...
