Simple beginner's terrain

I thought I'd share some bits I've made for home games.

Hedges made of folded blister padding on cardboard, and coated with green tea and pizza spice. It covers nicely and is cheaper than static grass, but being organic it needs to be dried properly, and a couple of sprayings of varnish to avoid unwanted extra growth.

Some CD based woodland bits. Trees and ruin bits are from GW. Maybe I should get a proper grass mat...

Thanks for the comments! About the game board, I think I prefer a mat and small terrain bits. They're easier to storage, and toss on the dinner table for a game.

I noticed that storage really gets enoying after a while .

Tell me about it. Having two kids and a wife who sells PartyLite stuff, storage space is at premium. Doesn't help that we're all pack rats, none is eager to get rid of old stuff... :roll:

Some nice work you have there, a very good start. Not to worry, plenty people have the same problem as you with the space issue - which includes me. I have a suggestion for your hedge, using a kitchen scourer (green thing for washing) is a really good way of making hedges. You just double it back my cutting then folding it, then snippet a few pieces out to get it a little uneven. I like the idea of the green tea and pizza herbs (and you must have some awesome smelling terrain!) but an idea is to use very fine sawdust. This can be found near a local wood mill for free, pet shops etc... You then mix a little amount of green paint you have left over and you then have some perfect flock. After you can add little patches of your spice. Good work again, look forward to what comes of this.

They look great, and using of green tea and spices what an idea!!!
I am new to painting and making terrain so these sort of hints are fantastic, keep up the good work.
