Looks good Cyndra, a little simple though. You could maybe add some other things to it?

Thanks Drum. I was going to add rails to the side but as I play 40k my land raider can't fit over with the sponsons on as well

Any other ideas you could suggest to add, maybe a broken board do you think?

I was thinking adding some hight, rathen than flat. At some wooden supports to the side and I agree a rail would go well. You could even have it partly damaged at the side. Here is the idea in the picture below for the shape, but make it more medieval etc...

May I suggest that you ge rid of ALL the old paint? that way you will end up with a much better result.

Can't wait to see those Iron guard all painted up!

The stripping up to now has taken two sprays of Fairy power spray and not much more will come off, especially in the detailed areas.

You used sprays? I remember when one of my priming sprays was faulty I had to remove the paint from my models. People recommended some sort of green liquid to me (which I forget the name) it's a paint remover. Basicall poured it all in a jar, dumped my metal models in there, a day or two later the primer came loose and I just brushed the rest off with a toothbrush.

I think you are talking about Simple Green, but sadly it isn't available in the UK. The stuff i have used is designed for BBQ cleaning. You spray it on, wait for 30-40 mins and the scrub off with a toothbrush (preferably an old one- it doesn't taste very nice :lol:

) It takes most of the paint off and works better on metals. On plastics it leaves the basecoat on which can be useful.

I love Simple Green for stripping. I just have problems keeping my wife out of it... It's a great cleaner.

I just use nail varnish remover. Works a treat on metals. No good for plastic minis though.

Use methylated spirits. It's better than bbq/oven cleaner for miniatures and doesn't wreck plastic models at all (just make sure you don't get confused and use WHITE spirit.

@ukfreddybear: I have tried some of that stuff on other models but it didn't come out too well because the paint didn't come off and they were metal.

@Elros: isn't meths the stuff you use im camping stoves? Any safety precautions?

And here is the bridge at the moment, i didn't add the support struts because there wasn't enough space:

It's already looking better, you could even exaggerate it more by putting it a little steeper. This is the picture I had in mind, I just took a picture of it from the Warhammer Terrain book. Just make the whole thing bigger - like you have so it can fit your other 40k tanks/models etc..

Sorry for the bad photo's - I wouldn't be cut out to be a photographer hehe

I have the book myself. I think i will leave out the vertical support struts because I have already put the water effects in so it will look a little weird.
I like the steepness as it is and i doubt it will go any steeper because of the banks.

Good idea. A little rickety for land raiders though.

I am building this bridge to fit with roads I have already made for my collection.This is a different way to make it a little steeper. You can make the approaches from wood if you like. I used Hirst blocks for the bridge supports. Foam board or blue/pink foam will work fine. There were still bridges like this on some back roads when I was young. They were made from railroad tie sized beams about six inches a part. A wide platform was made for vehicle tires with a space in the middle. It was scary to walk on when I was little. They will support trains and large vehicles.

I think what you have made will work fine

Yes very true, your land raiders and tanks would go right through it or smash it to pieces. Your other option could be to have two different bridges that are both easily removable. So a bridge that fits for your 40k futuristic battles and your more traditional ones for LotR.

I have finished the bridge, painting and all but I forgot to take photos so I will get some later. I decided against the tyre planks because although it seemed like a great idea it just didn't look right when I put it on. Thanks for the suggestion anyway Willow.

I got some pink foam from B&Q at the weekend and decided to make a start on some terrain:

Oops must have knocked the foamboard base in these pics, I'll go and straighten it now, so what do you guys think?
