Wow, I hope you're not entering that Haldir to the Awards. :P
Nice job, how long does it normally take to get your minatures that well painted?

This one took me about 4 days of focused painting , couple of hours a day.

It's just perfect and it has a Wow effect. But I think your style is more fantasy not Lotr. Yes I know that lotr is fantasy but I think you know what I mean.

I first clicked on this thread and I saw your Gamling on the first page and then your Haldir. Man your painting skills are certainly improved.

That's beautiful! Lovely painting and the base is very well done too. I really like the free hand on the cloak. Good luck in the awards!

As I told earlier , I'm quite positive I won't enter this one in Awards (since I spoiled the beans now). I'll try to do something better ;)

Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear. What I meant to say was good luck with your new project for the awards :) . Although, it's kind of hard to imagine something better than your Haldir.

Okay, my question to you, Haldir.pl, is: How do you, personally, explain the blending technique? I did ask a GW employee this same question and he did give me a brief explanation but I just thought I'd ask someone who obviously knows how to do it well. I had a go at it on a dwarf's cloak once, and needless to say, it didn't turn out too well. So could you help a fellow painter? 8)

I try to achieve smooth transitions but simply using very diluted paint. It requires some time to paint but in the end it's worth it. Also it requires a bit different look a colours, cause the colour you have on palette won't be as bright on mini due to thin layer of paint.

ok Haldir, here are some of my questions.

When highlighting up from the Badab black wash over Boltgun metal, for the very first couple of highlights should I include the wash mixed with Boltgun metal and gradually bring it up back to Boltgun? Or should I use chaos black instead? I'm just very confused on what highlight to do next after the wash.

Also, in your article about Haradrim, I read about how you used a method called filtering for the coat. What is this?

thank you

Just use thinned down Boltgun or add a little black, don't mix washes with paints it's pointless.

Filters are just almost transparent layers of paint to change the hue of the colour.
