Thanks for the conformation. I'll buy it after christmas because then I will hopefully have enough money to get it as well.
Ty for the comment.

Ah nice dwarf, I like the red colour scheme. Remember to pop on a few highlights, doesn't take long - but makes a difference. 8) Your dwarf ranger looks fab, nice to see him based. The assassin is kind of difficult to see the detail, because a lot of him is so dark but it could just be the way the photo was taken. For the hall, if you still can't find any balsa wood - or just totally sick of magnums you could go down to your local supermarket. They often chuck crates away for vegtables or fruit. Some have really thin wood, almost like balsa wood. It's slightly harder to cut, but otherwise pretty much the same. Nice ruins too, how are you going to brick them? Maybe take out the statue, but the other plastic piece works fine with it.

Nice work as always.

Sorry for not explaining, i meant the broken statue and the rubble pile from this set: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1095526

@Drum: I might have an ask at my local co-op for the crates your talking about. I wasn't sure about the statue so thanks for that. I might put on another rubble pile and see how that looks, just so it provides more cover.
Hopefully this weekend if the snow clears ill go to hobbycraft and B&Q for balsa and styrofoam.

As always thanks for the kind words.

It is hard to make suggestions some times because I do not know what is available in your county. Look for these products. They are much cheaper than balsa wood.
Stain the wood before you glue it together, you won't have to paint it at all.

Thanks very much for the idea Willow, i had never thought of buying just the sticks.
I found these so my mum might be able to get these this week: http://www.paperchase.co.uk/plain-lolly ... /00457332/
Thats the best idea so far so thank you.

Nope i still got the rest of Wardens of the West Gate box, which in total is 24 warriors, 24 rangers, 6 iron guard, ballista, captain and a banner. As for they army im just painting what takes my fancy because I started LotR 3 years ago and just bought a bit of mostly everything but my main focus is dunland and dwarves now. Im buying some lolly sticks tomorrow and some brickwork has been added to the ruins using a biro.
The snow is starting to melt but we did get a half day today. :-D But yeh i think most of it is moving south.
Thanks for the comment.

Well Lakeland is my saviour! :-D :
Image

The work on the hall (a lot neater now, i want to redo it all but it will take too long):
Image

And the dwarf warrior is finished:
Image

But no progress to speak of on the rangers at the moment, just the cloaks painted red.
The work on the hall will be a lot quicker now but when i reach the roof it might slow down because i still need to get fur for the thatching.
Please comment, thanks

Oh lots of progress on the hall, it's coming along nicely. Theres quite a difference between the magnums and the Lake stuff. Your dwarf looks fab too, some good highlights. There could maybe a little tonning down on them, but otherwise it's all good. Also if your wanting to make your men look worn out after days of battle etc.. you can first apply a really wet coat - just have a little paint, and add plenty of water. Once that has dried you just to a dry brush. Look forward to your next update!

Thanks for both your replies. I think my highlighting on the ranger was better but I'm not complaining.

@Drum: thanks for the battle worn tip you mean like for armour you would do watered down chainmail over black and then mithril silver drybrush? I'll try that on one of my archers of MT. As you can see I have a lot to work on. :)

Another update might be on the way tomorrow because school is cancelled, :D Cheers again,

Cyndra the Grey

Well the doors are finished:
Image

And a dunland warrior defends the hall of his chieftain against a raiding (and soon to be dead :-D ) dwarf:
Image

I would have done painting but i got distracted playing World of Warcraft :D , (PM if you play).

Im thinking of doing a card base for the roof and then putting teddy bear fur on top for thatching (like in the TT journeybook), but has anyone else got better suggestions?
Thanks,

Cyndra the Grey

Looks good, you could maybe at some bolt or nails with greenstuff or milliput. If your wanting a cheap solution and you will be making more thatched buildings in the future.. get a cheap one of these pink fluffy covers (I know it's not very man-ly but what can you do) and you'll have plenty for other things too. or just a fluffy coat works.. normal more expensive though. I got a white fluffy blanket for 10 squid.. and I have enough for 50 buildings.. lol.

On the gaming side, I don't have WOW but I do have everything from the CODs to COH, Crysis and all the other pretty big games..

It was more for the fabric like capes etc.. but yes the same can be applied but with different colours of the chainmail - not quite as good I found though - because the black was just about does it anyway.

Oh right you meant for cloth, I will try that out then. I have found teddy bear fur for £5 from hobbycraft for a 50cm by 70cm piece so I think that will be big enough (but the hobbycraft near me is ages away).
The green stuff bolts idea is a great one as well, that will definitely be getting used. Thanks for the tips, as always they are appreciated very much.

No update on the hall yet, but I have done some other scenery. It is a rock/rubble pile that me and my dad built around 3 to 4 years ago when my scenery skills weren't very good so please don't criticize it too much.
Here is is:

And with an uruk-hai:

At the moment it is just fortress grey drybrush over a black undercoat, so I am going to stipple catachan green on in places for lichen and moss. The base will be painted in the same earthy/grassy style to my dunland guys. Please comment.

Cyndra the Grey

PS. Some more work on the board will be done today
