So the catapult can have a mordor troll upgrade, and yes for 10 pts less. It can help the catapult fire 2 shots instead of 1.

1st book printed out: The siege of minus tirith book came out first. Says Troll is 90pts.

2nd Book printed out: The rule book, (mini, or the small one) It says troll is 100 pts not 90pts

3rd Book pritned out: Legions and Morador, both say 90 Pts for the troll upgrade.

Since 2 books printed out after the (mini rule book) is it safe to say the troll is 90 Pts for the upgrade?

I had a game tester tell me yes its 90 but wanted to see what you all though.

Wait but doesn't the troll have the same stats as a normal troll? That means that you save 10 points if you buy the troll with the catapult than if you just buy a separate one. Cool.

I don't think he has a hand weapon though.

IIRC, his entry says he has a hand weapon though he hardly needs it, or something to that effect.

The Troll upgrade is a "discount" version, and I have seen people play where he goes off to fight normally while the catapult stays behind. But if you're investing in a catapult anyway it seems like a good idea to keep the Troll there for at least a few turns while forces close to get the bonus. Then, when the enemy is close enough, let him go off with the troops to battle.

Overall, spending the points on a catapult just to get a Troll for 10points less is not really a loop hole or anything. But it is something that's nice to take advantage of if you were already wanting a siege weapon anyway.
