I just heard about it now when I saw it on the TV. It's a shame really.

Cue fog horn...

Well, on the bright side, if it means PJ stepping in to direct, that will create a visual consistency that was certain not to be entirely there with GDT.

I don't care about Del Toro, so this isn't bad news persay...the eventual declaration that due to this event The Hobbit will be further postponed will be extremely disapointing.

Why on earth is this movie such a problem to these guys? Greed? Emergence of 3D trends? Funds? Actors? I mean, c'mon! :-X

I heard that Ridley Scott will be taking over but I don't know for sure yet.

I think it was the other way around, Del Toro left because The Hobbit got pushed back too often.

Vicious circle - it gets pushed back, so he leaves - without the director, they have to push it back....

I have never heard of an on-schedule film release.

You have to admit though, the delays on this one are getting beyond a joke now. You'd think that, banking on the success of the LOTR films, they'd rush this one through, I'm sure it's gonna provide a better return than "Jeepers Creepers 3" which is another one of MGMs projects. They've got a list of B grade rubbish that they are backing yet are holding out on the gold

I don't think this is such bad news, as it would be awesome if Peter Jackson directed it himself. Ridley Scott would be ok too. I didn't see Robin Hood but Gladiator was terrific.
