Like the Dunlending Jake, especially the shield and base.
Theres a lot of brown there though, might I suggest you change the handle of the axe by painting intermitting thin lines down the shaft in a lighter shade of brown, then do the same again with an even lighter shade, it gives a nice effect and will help to break up the browns.

Nice work mate !

Your welcome Krol

Sure thing Brian! I've been meaning to have a go at something like that for a while so that should encourage me to try it out :)

I really like how you have painted the sand on the base. The colours on theoden look very good though the face looks a little odd, but it might just be the picture. He looks a little like he is sinking into the base and his sword is a little crooked but otherwise he looks very good. I'm looking forwards to see more.

Thanks everyone.

The model isn't actually sinking into the bases sand, it just looks like that in the picture.

The sword is wonky yes, still need to fix that. I'm also going to repaint it brighter.

Ive recently finished a Captain of Minas Tirith for my Gondorians. Pictures of that will come at some point this week.

Next LotR model to be painted will be a Dwarf Ranger however I have necrons going under the knife soon too :)

Sorry again about lack of activity recently.

Everythings over now I hope and I have a lot of time freed up now for the hobby.

I will start painting my LotR again as soon as possibly but in the meantime, there should be some updates in my Non-LOTR Thread within the next week or so as I am picking up Warmachine.

It's been a very long time since I painted anything and an even longer time since I painted anything to do with LotR. But here I am with an update!

I've started painting my Gondor army!

My first update is Faramir, Captain of Gondor (Ranger) and one of Faramirs' Rangers. As it usually takes me forever to paint a miniature I've tried to paint these quickly and simply. (PS - the lighting on these pictures isn't quite right, for some reason Faramirs' sword seems very shiny, whereas it's actually a bit darker than shown.)

More Rangers to come soon (hopefully)!

Cheers.

whoop! It's about time Gondor comes first. Farmir looks very good and I also find myself taking ages to paint one person. I'm liking the ranger too, but not so much the bestil brown colour. Think thats just me thought, I seem to like darker colours for my rangers. Keep up the work and I look forward to more!

Very nice neat highlighting there, what type of brushes do you use if you don't mind me asking?
I'm looking forward to seeing some more.

Thanks guys! :)

The only paintbrushes I use at the moment are GW ones (sizes: Large Drybrush, Starter Brush, Standard Brush and Fine Detail Brush) though I really need to get some decent non-GW ones at some point.
