Isn't it strange how this has gotten more votes than the painting challenge vote?

Anyway, back on topic, I got a look at the miniature IRL the other day, it's not quite as bad as I thought....still not great, but he's not as morbidly obese as GW made him look :)

Dont you think the poll is just slightly biased?

Its the fox news of LotR polls.

I randomly recieved May's issue of White Dwarf yesterday (I usually recieve them towards the middle of the month or earlier in the month; I recieved April's just four days before May's), and the new Faramir is mentioned and detailed in the issue. I've only just skimmed through it (sorry, homework), but from what I've read this is definitely NOT a fourth age Faramir, but an artisic interpretation of the Faramir from and before the LotR trilogy. He is featured in a WotR scenario, The Fall of Osgiliath, which is a pre-LotR battle that also features Boromir. Ironically enough, he is mentioned specifically below a design note about a Dol Amroth Battlehost :)

The issue is actually LotR heavy btw, and LotR even makes the cover :yay:

Nothing bad with GW though, they are amazing, sure, the paintjob is not the best I've seen. But it's way better than what most of us could perform.

Back to the original subject, I still think he look like a pretty fat old drunk man. But taste is different, I know.

Rofl, sorry for the double post, but it was scuplted by the Perrys. Seriously, just read it in WD!

Is it just me, or does he look a little warhammerish? I was just looking at the picture again and was wondering about some of the proportions. Could explain why he looks fat, but until I see it for myself I suppose I can't say for certian.

I think the model in the picture looks ok but it's not the most flattering by a long shot. I remember when that picture was first leaked (See Here) everyone was drooling over it with anticipation (well most people were excited by it :P ) but how we all changed our tune when we found out it was supposed to be Faramir!

Exactly my point, it's not Faramir for me, but still a nice looking model all the same. :)

I agree, the model DOES look nice, but I don't think of it as a model of Faramir.

He does appear to be in "Heroic scale", which would explain his larger-than-usual head (making him seem fat) and the huge, bulging (and slightly squared looking) horse. However, someone said that the model doesn't have these qualities in person, so it could be a case of a bad face-paint, highlighting that is too extreme on the horse and a bad angle to take a photo from.

Could someone please purchase this model, paint it, and settle this matter once and for all?

That's what I'd like to see. The model painted by a One-Ringer, and in multiple different paint jobs.

There's a picture in WD 365 (my first ever White Dwarf :D) of his face from the other side, which looks a lot more like Faramir.

Yeah man, I agree, I would have never guessed it was sculpted by the Perrys.

Sorry to drag this one from the depths but do I detect a subject for the next painting challenge?!

That isn't actually a bad idea. The alternative options could be the other mounted Faramir, Imrahil, Dol Amroth, lancers of gondor, etc.

Well, OR Awards are coming up soon as well, so hopefully someone enters one for that as well.

Back after 2 long years :O!
Anyway, I just wanted to say, to me the model is alright. I dont think in the movie they fully captured how "royal" and well, "Numenorian" Faramir was supposed to be. Dont get me wrong, I love how he is in the movie, but he has another aspect in the book that isn't truly shown in the movie. I think this model actually kind of captures this aspect of him, where all other men - except really Aragorn and Denethor, haha - look up to him. Of course, a new paint scheme is in order, and another model could most definitely have been created above this AND he could have been better, the face for instance in the pic I have seen, and maybe the armour, but admittedly I havent seen the model in person. But there's my two cents worth! :D
