As I type this the final coat of varnish is drying on my Warg Chieftain and his pack. There will be photos on the morrow. Hooray!

By the way...Happy New Year, everyone.

Okay, folks...Here are my Wild Wargs and their Chieftain, known as the Wolves of Evendim. I know that they would look better if they had the tuft of fur on their backs, but these guys have to double as Warg Riders. I just couldn't see buying enough boxed sets to have dedicated Wargs for each use.

Here are four example Wargs:

And here are a couple shots of the Chieftain:

Here's a shot of the whole group:

And finally a bonus shot of my work bench:

Love the wargs

No need to worry about the tuffs of fur, it's pretty simple and I plan to use mine for double duty myself.

The nice thing about the fur tuffs is they sit in the plugs very tight and quite easy to remove.

So all I suggest is painting those up and removing them when you want the riders, they really should sit in the holes fine unless you turn them upside down or something.

Woo! Pics.

That's some nice work you have done on those Wargs dude. I'd second the recommendation to paint the plugs for when they are riderless though.

What's next on the agenda?

Yeh the fur attachments would make them look much better and they don't have to be permanent. Great job with the wargs, looking forward to your next update

Nice Wargs! :yay: I'd like to second that about the fur, you can put the little fur pieces on and not glue them

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Regarding the fur tufts: I had painted up a couple of Warg Riders before, for a Warg Riders Battle Company, and found the fur tufts to be very easy to lose. Besides, these are gaming models, so the hole in the back doesn't bother me at all.

Regarding the pink iPod: It's actually metallic red, but looks pink in some lighting. If you saw it next to an actual pink iPod, there'd be no question that it's supposed to be red. It's just weird like that. Besides, even if it were pink, I'm man enough to pull it off!

Next on the docket is my Dead Marsh Spectres. I had debated doing another 12 Orcs, but I have an idea for the Spectres and if it turns out well, then I'm going to do an article on them.

I'd suggesting getting some rare earth magnets. You can put them on the Warg, the tufts, and the bottom of the Warg Rider. The magnets are more than strong enough to hold the tufts or rider in place. That is what I'm planning on doing when I start building some Warg Riders.

The painting looks great!

Any chance you'll be coming up to Chicago for Adepticon?

After a brief sojourn into the realm of 40K, I'm back to painting some Lord of the Rings miniatures. I have adjusted my planned Angmar collection to reflect how I will expand it into a War of the Ring army.

This next batch is a set of Spectres. Now that I've read the WotR rulebook, I'll probably convert up a couple more to fill out one formation. I doubt I'll do any more than that. They are gaming, rather than display, models so they are painted to a mediocre standard, in my opinion.

So, I've edited my initial post with a revised list of what I will be collecting for this army. The release of War of the Ring has changed it up a little.

I've been painting some Orcs tonight. They are nearly completed. That will make my first complete box of painted Mordor Orcs. Actually, it wasn't a box, but the batch that came with the Return of the King boxed game. It's sad that it has taken me this long to paint them, but I haven't really been playing evil armies very much.

I will post some pictures as soon as they are finished. I'm hoping to have them done tomorrow, so that I can concentrate on the December Paint-Off.

Good work on the spectres, though I think they would look a lot better on some sort of swampy base, those vines just don't fit on the base you have them on. Are the bones freehand?

Okay...I finished up this batch of Orcs, and here are the pictures. After I get these posted, I´m headed to the garage to get some varnish on them.

I apologize for the lack of proper pictures...I haven't set up a light booth since the move. I guess I need to work on that.

First, here's the ones I just finished.

Image

Here are the Orcs w/Shield

Image

Here are the Orcs w/Spears

Image

Here are the Orcs w/Bows & 2-Handers

Image

And here's the whole, hairy mob of them together.

Image

I know they're not the greatest, but I think they look pretty decent when grouped together on the table. Let me just say that GW's new line of washes are a godsend.

I hope you liked them.

I think that next, I'm going to finally get some of my WotR movement trays based and painted, so that these finished models will look done when I play my games.
