Well done Brent on a very hardfought win  But seriously, that mumak has come out simply great, and I applaud your amazing dedication to this piece. I can't wait to see what your doing next! :)

Thanks again to everyone for commenting on my Mumakil. Now that Adepticon has come and gone, I'm starting to work on some Haradrim Warriors. I wanted to use an alternative paint scheme that would complement my Mumakil. So I decided to go with the same red/brown base coat on the tunic but use a brown/khaki style coloring on the cloth underneath it.

Here's test model #1. What do you think of this scheme?

I really like him Brent, I'm just not crazy about the gold...not that the gold doesn't look good...just that I imagine them with more wicker or leather armor as opposed to metal armor.

Hmm...the colour scheme that you are experimenting with on his clothes seem alright but you've applied the paint sooo thickly...there is no detail to be seen on his face or hands.

I think that actually is varnished then dull-coated.
Atleast it seems to be from the thick and matt surcface.

Thanks guys for the feedback. In general people seem to be in favor of the color scheme (or at least don't think its awful - which is all I was going for anyway).

@ Commander Cool - the lighting of the digitial photos washed out the details on face - it looks much better in person.

No matte varnish yet on this model. I did use some reaper paints on the mini and they have a more matte finish than GW.

An interesting colour scheme; the gold looks very neat - like gold as opposed to being just gold paint. I would tend to go with a darker palette, like the movie versions.

One of the things that I instantly hated about the Mumakil was the angle of its head, love what you have done with it !
The grappling hooks are also a very nice addition, great work !!!

Liking the colour sceme on the Harad too !

Following the line of haldir_sfan.pl, I can show off some of my competition entries now.

I made the Fountan Court of Minas Tirith. A little background here is that it was primarily designed to be army display for our Adepticon Force.

Here are some images that a friend of mine took at Adepticon:

Fantastic Fountain Court, Brent and a very well presented army. Where did you get the statues of the Fountain Guards?

For those that have asked, the Fountain Guard Statues were originally action figures from the Armies of Middle Earth toy line. They are basically 3" tall. These guards came from the Gondorian Soldier set and seem to be one of the hardest to find on eBay these days. I know because I overpaid to get them. I had to do a bit of "converting" to get one of them to hold their spear in the opposite hand but it wasn't too much work. Overally, I think they were perfect for the display and a nice addition.

I remember seeing these in a toy store in 2004... carpe diem and all that, should have got them when they were available.
