Last Saturday I played a 450 points army at a small tournament. I came with a good and an evil army, but in all 3 games we played, the other player rolled higher dice results and could choose his type of army. Each player preferred the evil side, so I played my good list of Minas Tirith three times in a row.

First game was against Moria Goblins with Durburz, a shaman, 1 warg marauder and 2 batflocks, second game was against a goblin town army with the king, Gollum, a cave troll and myriads of goblins, and the third gamer was against a conventional list of Isengard uruk-hai, consisting of Vrasku, Mauhur, a shaman and armoured Uruk-hai together with scouts.

I lost all three games!

Here ist my Minas Tirith list from the tournament:
1. warband:
Boromir, captain of the white tower (no shield and no other options)
2 warriors of MT (1 with sword and shield, 1 with spear and shield)
2 fountain guards (no shields)
2. warband:
Cirion
2 warriors of MT (both with spear and shield)
1 warrior of MT (with banner)
1 warrior of MT (with horn and shield)
2 fountain guards (no shields)
3. warband:
Beregond
6 citadel guards (with bows)

All models are on foot, together they have 10 might, 5 will, 5 fate.

Let's not talk about the general's poor abilities. But has somebody ideas how I could improve this list? What are the weaknisses of this list?

I would like to read your opinions. Thank you for commenting!

Just as a quick response you need Boromir on a horse. Furthermore he's way too big a points cost model to take at a 450 pt tournament IMO.

I think you fought perfect enemies. Goblin hordes with special elites and then Isengard is always tough ...

What scenarios for each game?

The first Scenario (against Moria) was "To the death!" The batflock took a lot of power from my heroes. My Shooting was worse than expected.

The second Scenario (against goblin town) was Domination. At the end I had two markers and the goblins had three. The main fight weas in the Center, where especially the Monster attacks of hurling were devastating.

And the third scenario (against isengard) was named "My treasure!" a Variation of some GW Scenarios. There ist only one treasure in the Center of the field, it has to be dug out of the earth by a model on foot (successful at a 4+) and then has to be carried over thr opposing edge. I got the treasure with Boromir and came in reach of the other edge, only 6" distance apart, but the I lost priority and got bound in fighting . In the end all Gondorians were dead. There was no Shooting on my side. All in all a really good game.

Oh, and for fun, each Player in each had to fulfill a secret Mission like "bring your heroes into your opponent's area" or "Kill a warband", which gave extra victory Points.

Thank your for your judgement of my list and of Boromir. I'll try it in some futere game with more points.

I'd warn against taking Boromir at games below 600-700 pts to be honest. Additionally, your numbers are too low and you have a few points sinks (horn + banner, just pick one) as well as expensive troops. I'd suggest beregond leading 6 WOMT with either 6 spear WOMT or rangers to support them. I'd duplicate this warband for others to lead as well (if you have Damrod or Denethor use these). Replace boromir with cirion or Faramir.

If you play Gondor at 450 points, you could easily get over 40 models on the table if you use cheap heroes. It's a major benefit. If you want to sprinkle some S3 bows and fountain court guard around your warbands then feel free, but remember that Gondor's advantage at lower points games lies in cheap heroes and therefore cheap warbands. (Edit* and maxing out the bow limit)

If you want help in forming a list, I'd be happy to help. :D

Thank you all for your helpful comments. I will try one of the suggested lists, presumably first the all on foot one, because for the mounted models I will have to do some conversions. I'll tell you then - after battle - how the modifications have worked.

Basically slayer of trolls offered good advice^

Also those scenarios were very tough for you! Especially for your matchups.
