Hi there, so I'm stuck on a way of basing many of my models. A particular theme im wanting to do is a woodland/autumn-y base.

How can I do this? I'd like to have a browny/reddish dead fall colour. Something to represent Lothlorien or the Shire in autumn. I'm probably not explaining what I mean very well aha, but if you can help, that is great. Thank you :)

Part of the issue is what materials you have for this. If you have any leaves then it could be a simply case of painting them the above colours, yellows are a nice one to add.
Failing that you are looking at general scatter, you can colour this with some diluted paint in a pot, allowing to dry and then applying to the base. To be honest I haven't done that.
A few plant roots can act nicely as twigs and branches, even small trees for the biggest roots.
Also the scale, are you doing these on standard round bases or are you planning something bigger.
I get the idea of what you want but need some more info.

I have some orange and yellow leaves im planning to add. And the scheme Id like to paint is just in the bases. I'd should have made it clearer that's it's the sand I want to paint in deadfall colours too. Sorry, I'm not the best at explaining things :-D

Hopefully this helps you to help me, thank you :)

What basing material are you using? Basically, in autumn the soil and grass does not change colour (in temperate regions at least). This means that you can turn a normal style base into an autumn base just by adding some orange and yellow leaves. Just be careful to keep the leaf colours natural.

I would say mud is mud, so no change there, perhaps slightly darker to resemble wet earth as autumn is a bit damper. The grass also needs to be darker, not bright green.
One of my favourite earth materials is compost, regular stuff you but at the garden centre.
I use that and dry it out. It covers great and very realistic for a forest floor. Look at the forest floor here, I have used compost and applied very thin washes of different greens and Browns to create the variation.

I used various scatter materials to create this Lothlórien forest floor; maybe this is similar to what you are looking for:
