Only thing is that the green feels a bit out of place on the bow and swordhandle (on the second guy) - personally not a fan of repeated colours on very different surfaces. Scabbard design on the third one is also very nice, thought that was sculpted on for a moment there.

I totally understand. That sword grip bothers me too, it is right there with the cloth on his head. I would have changed it right away but I did a good job on those fine lines (that sword grip on that sculpt doesn't have any texture at all) I will probably go back and redo this in one of the colors I am using on my Abrakhan Guard if I remember. The Bow grip I can live with but maybe I will redo that too.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Helps the motivation. This community can thrive if we keep feeding off each others good vibes and positive energy.

Wow, those look fantastic! Well done! The only thing I don't really like about them are their bases. They just seem kind of boring, but that's just my opinion.
Good luck in the challenge!

Thanks everyone.
Indeed the bases are kind of dull, hope I fixed that a little on this next one.
Not happy with the tattoo, it's ok but I think I could do better ones after getting this one done. but there are more where this guy came from to work on.
I wanted to have a little sky reflection on this. So there is a little blue in the blade and a sun spot. I think it came out ok.

Another week has passed. Was able to finish sculpting this but I am still painting it, needs more work on the scales as they are not as bright as the previous three so I want them to be unified more. But here is WIP.

Looks great, I'm impressed. Is that your first scratch sculpt of a human sized figure?

Cool stuff! You can really see an improvement from figure to figure, and now you're sculpting as well! Awesome work!

Yes and no. I have done almost a complete model in my Mordor Uruk collection (which will grow). I have wanted to scale back so I can learn more yet still produce something useable. When I was painting these it occurred to me that if I can get the eyes and hands right sculpting the rest is no harder than a conversion involving cloth. Gave it a shot. I learned some things on this and that is what is most important to me. The scale is ever so slightly large, when all of the guys are together it is hard to tell, but if he is side by side with any one then you can tell. It is still not that bad though. So hopefully I will make many more sculpts while still painting and converting and building scenery.

Thanks. I can't say that I always push myself from one model to another, I usually have good moments and bad within any set army. I think some sculpts just awaken creativity other sculpts are tedious but experience at least keeps them to a fair standard.

Thanks....and um, I don't recommend how I sculpted the weapons, at least not if you have alternatives. I pressed it into shape over a armature using two tools which is not that easy. Then I filed it into shape after it cured which with Green is not that easy as it is a softer epoxy. I have plasticard and in the future I will most likely try to make most of the weapon with that. If I sculpt a weapon again I will use a combo of miliput and Green stuff as it cures harder and can file easier.
The guy on Storm the Castle has some video tutorials on sculpting and he sculpts two swords using green stuff just as I did. I think it was video 14 or 15 on the miniature sculpting series he has there. if you want to check it out go to www.stormthecastle.com

The tricky part about this one is, this is the sculpt that has a sculpted to body shield. So I cut off the shield arm with the shield and carved it into shape.

Nice! He looks really good with the horns and that mace! I like the fact that you added bowstrings! I was amways to lazy to do that but it gives the minis a bit more realism and looks nice.

Thanks Captain Blake.

Here is what I moved off the painting table this week. Nothing special. At least I have completed a fourth morannon with bow which is the minimum I would want to try them out. Still need to string his bow but that is a formality.

Love those Hunter orcs, the skin tone shouldnt work but it does. I also like the blue cloth you did for the first hunter orc, any chance of a 'guide'?

Thanks.
Blue cloth is;
Ultra marines blue mixed with Black, close to 3 parts to 1 black. Then for highlights I added some Bone color as I progressed.
The purple skin is Genestealer with black base, about 5 parts to 1 part black, to highlight I added Cadian Fleshtone first then later added Kislev flesh to it to bring it up a bit.
Light brwons are XV-88 over Mornfang on a Rhinox Base.
The second Hunter has some Doombull that was highlighted adding Trollslayer orange and then Bone, but in such a water down way as to keep it rich.
Arrow Fletching is Turquois mixed with black (4 parts color to 1 part black) and use bone to lighten it 50/50 to bring up the edges and details.

I think that covers most of it anyhow.

Purple skin is perfect on the hunters!

Stringing bows is something which is definitely beyond me.
