Thanks for all the nice comments, much appreciated! :D

@paliouras: I think you're right, but I don't want to loose all the detail work on the stomach... Btw, seeing your Haradrim Host I thought I could easily convert the metal banner bearer with the scorpion banner to a Abrakhân... Just need to get a second one...

I changed some things, much more pictures, information and fluff about the model can be found on my blog!

Best wishes

I agree with Garmenhord that the sculpting looks great. My favourite has to be the top right photo...

Thank you for your nice comments, much appreciated!

I decided to do something completely diffrent: A non-LotR minature! It's a centaur!

More pictures can be (as always) found on my blog! I'd love to here your comments, critizism and so on! (Maybe also directly on my blog...)

Best wishes,

Sorry for the double post but I could hardly go around...

There is some more progress on the centaur, more pictures (also from a head) and text can be found on my
Blog. (They are under the old post, so you'll have to go down a bit...)

Best wishes,
Bennet

That's coming along very nicely. Good definition in the stomach muscles, perhaps a little too much depth though, I think a smoother transition between these muscles will work better.

Good proportions thus far. Stomach muscles are in the right place although the square corners take away the realism a little bit.

Hi,

thank you both for your nice comments, I'll definetely rework those areas. 8)

And now to something completely different: The last month I've been working with some guys of the HdR-Tabletop Forum on a free hobby magazine about LotR and the Hobbit!

Image

Just one little notice: It is meant to be The lord of the Rings --> my computer changed it automatically... will be changed...

Image

And another little notice: Don't wonder about all the red, it's caused by the standart language of my computer and won't be vizible in the PDF-Version...

There are several articles and categories:

- Painting tutorials (this month for Mahud warriors)
- A series of sculpting tutorials from me (this month an introduction and a tutorial for cloaks)
- Armyshowcase (this month an awesome Uruk-scout army)
- Reviews (this month about the new Girion)

as well as more planned categories...

- about terrain modeling,
- battle reports

... and a lot more stuff!

It's completely free and just for counteracting the death of the hobby (especially vizible in Germany...)!

We have even got the permission of John Howe to use his illustrations and from Frank Becker to use his LotR-SAGA battleboards!!!

There is just one problem: It is only in German... As we've already been asked whether we'd be able to translate it, I already started. It is just very time-consuming and my English is not the best so we wanted to ask you for support!

Is there anybody who'd be able to translate the magazine or even just a small part of it?

Issue 1 includes 27 pages and I've translated the first five of it. If you are interested just leave a comment on our blog or pop me a PN, that would be awesome!

Issue one can be downloaded (in German) here:

http://hdrskirmisher.wordpress.com/

Thank you very much!

Best wishes
Bennet

Sweet! I know there have been various magazines that have come and gone through the years, some great, and other just good. But this one looks like it will be in the great category. I hope you can keep it going for a long time, and I applaud you for the work that you are doing to keep the hobby alive.

Wow that's a useful publication. The cloak tutorial is nicely done. I must have been asked by ten different people this weekend at the Desolation of Stockport how to sculpt cloaks, and your guide pretty much sums it up. 8) I also love the Uruk scout conversions and the Mahud paint guide. Even for non German speaking people this PDF is worth downloading for the step by step pictures alone. Well done to everyone involved. :yay:

Thanks for all the nice comments! 8)

There is just still missing anyone to translate...

@Dave: That is great to hear, you've actualy been the one who told me that he sculpted cloaks in several layers...

Today I finished another Dunlending for the campfire:

Lots of character - you can feel the cold he is sitting in and understand why he would be huddled close to any available source of heat.
Great sculpting work!

Wow, I wouldn't have thought of such nice comments, thank you very much again!

I changed some things so that the first viking (or Dunlending), who I call Arnthorr, can be cast in one piece.

Furthermore I played a bit with my camera set up:

A close up of the face and much more pictures can be found on my blog.

Cheers,

Thank you for all the comments! :D

Nevertheless I made some progress: I reworked some parts of one of my "older" vikings. I resculpted the head and the chainmail, what do you think now?
Furthermore I could need your help one more time regarding the positioning of the arms: Should they be like those of Wulfgrimm? I found his left arm quite boring, but liked his right one... The third sitting (and also already started) viking shall sharp his axe, so this would be the only opportunity to "rebuild" Wulfgrimm.
