Now we are about half way through, I was wondering how everyone was doing.
I'm nearly finished with my second of three troll and the structure of my base is done with a fair bit of it painted - lots of interesting things to go on it yet though.
So I think I'm about 50% there at the minute. I am going to have to get some serious time invested in this though - there's loads more I want to do.

I've finally gotten home from Uni and am ready to start, I'll take proof pics as soon as I can. Quick question: what's the best way to strip paint from a metal model?

I use sainsburys extra strength nail varnish remover. Pretty fast results

Just finished my last troll and I'm quiet pleased how they turned out. I will post some photos later in the week if I get chance.
I can now start concentrating on the scenery at long last.

That water cascade in the background looks very interesting g. I'm intrigued to see more of this.
Lovely to see the progression on this.

Looks great Gandlaf, are the dwarves or Bilbo going to be included in the diorama or is it just going to be the three trolls?

Thanks Adanedhel, I look forward to seeing your completed diorama. I'm not that far away myself, but I envisage slow progress to completion by the end of May at a guess.
I am waiting a delivery and still some other things to order so it could be into June before I get this done.

I know what you mean, Gandlaf. I'm not likely to finish mine until mid-June. Though that's partly because I can't find a place to get little flowers at the right scale, and partly because I'm once again back at Uni. Can anyone offer advice for getting flowers that are small enough? I need to make a crown for my decapitated statue. :)

Antenocitis workshop is were I've got a few of mine from. The scale is perfect. The flowers come in strips that you can cut to the desired height.

Those look perfect! I'll tab the website now, and make sure to order some over the next couple of weeks. Thanks, Gandlaf!

Here is my completed piece, if I was to name it 'Here comes trouble' would be fitting.
I used this as an opportunity to try things I haven't before, like the waterfall. So without further ado, heres the whole pieceImage

Very impressive. The horses and trolls are painted beautifully and I love the cave. Standouts for me have to be the river and tree branches. Are they made from that Asparagus Fern stuff?

The only criticism I would have is that the waterfall seems perhaps a bit too neat and straight edged. But I am certainly in no position to critique. I would have to put in some serious work to get something only 1/4 as good.

Outstanding work and I look forward to the Battle at the Black Gates!

Nice work on the waterfall, and the rest of it, looks great! I would like to see a bit of the pool at the base of the fall, maybe an extra picture sometime?
