My proof picture. The base is one I originally began using for Bag End before it got a bit big.Image

I will endeavour to remove the dust....

My entry, "Fog on the Barrow Downs"

Great excuse to paint it.

This looks like amazing fun and I'm sure there is going to be so many inspiring entries! I really can't wait to see them all. I do have one question that may apply to others also, are we allowed to enter more than one diorama? I ask because I'm still not sure if I'd like to do one big one or a few smaller ones.

Here are miniatures I intend to use in the diorama:

Image

They are from Mithril's Bree series but they look like they would suit Rohan and Lake-town as well. I don't know yet what kind of terrain I will build around them, probably some kind of simple outdoors smithy. I won't use the base but it will probably be handy to use it to mark the model locations on the real base.

I have no clue what I'm actually doing, I just want to paint these guys… :-P

This statement falls into two camps. The second part is as good a reason for doing anything as I can think of.
The first part is more like the sort of nutty comment I come out with.
And I applaud both parts of the statement (as I actually know that Pasi will make it look great).

Even the first part ("I have no clue what I'm actually doing") falls in two camps. I don't yet have any idea what else to include in the diorama. And then there is the fact that this is my first diorama and my terrain building skills are nothing to brag about. Double cluelessness! But fun probably.

My word Josh, I can see were this could be going and it will be great to see it finished. This is proving to be an epic challenge.

I'm liking the look of this Josh. Are you planning to have the lava bubbling ? If so have you thought of how to do it ?

I have started covering it all in plaster, I will do a thicker layer on the bottom and make ripples in it
