Amazing work DMS. Really liking your base on the beast. Its not to full of things (overcrowded/over the top) as your other minis are - sorry. But a really cool model :yay:

So with the poll to help me decide what model to enter in this years Golden Demon ending in a draw I decided to go with the Gandalf the Grey model but with a few additions.

Games Day was awesome by the way, really really enjoyed it!!
I was more than happy to reach the final in the Lotr single miniature catagory , beaten to a place by three fantastic entries. I have learnt a few tricks already that will help me out next year.... yes watch out Golden Demon I'm coming for you in 2014.

Absolutely first class work DMS, that lily has truly been gilded! I particularly like the way the decoration works from all angles.

Whilst I find that Gandalf is awesomely painted, I feel that the base is really ott and actually is distracting from what really counts... Gandalf.
I personally think you got over zealous here Kev, I love the paint job on the model, the base is just too much though.

It is amazing. I would love to see some good tips on the painting you did on the skin of the Beast as it's probably the best I've seen on one of these or a Mumuk. Throw it up under your Gemstones guide!

I've got 3 mumaks coming up early next year so i'll see if i can put something together.

Do you think that using a round standard base that wasn't set into a bigger base made a difference ?
Unfortunately the photos don't show enough for some critical response but your Gandalf is fantastic. The OSL on the third place is beautifully done but I feel your general painting is better.
So what tricks did you learn ?
