Thanks I am going to read over your comments and take some time to digest them. I am in the middle of an experiment and will try to post it before it gets to late.

The light box cut out for the Moria Stair

Image

The same spot with torn aluminum foil.

I will need to work out where to mount the lights and how deep to make the box. I was going to paint the aluminum foil. It would not have been dry enough to post before it was to late for you to comment back.

That is exactly the look I'm thinking of. The light cutting through breaks in the lava flow. I've noted you plan to cover the foil in so e plaster cloth which I think will give you the correct texture to paint the black areas.
The only thing now is being careful how much lava has the light source, you will also need some small aras to create a mismatched look to the flow.

Another old photo. I have moved and moved again. Mostly MBA, AKA The Miniature Building Authority. I can see a few more JR and Old Glory buildings too. The MBA are pre painted. I painted everything else.

I am delighted to say that retirement is suiting you very very well. As one in the same profession as you were, I have 6 3/4 yrs to go and judging by what you are doing, I can't wait.

My first attempt at ghost green. More yellow perhaps?

I think smaller skulls rather than the hands might look better.

Image

This is my a WIP photo of my experiments with creating some game effects with LEDs . I have been experimenting with the best ways to attach the poly-fill and different battery boxes. The dowel rod has holes in it so that I can attach the bone hands or skulls to see what works the best before I build the flying stands . I will use the green for a halloween decoration.

A completely mad idea, I love it. I think the bigger skull gives it a more sinister feel.

I was thinking how all this has a Halloween / Alice in Wonderland feel to it. The mad hatter could be in place amongst those mushrooms.

Fanticide has that look.
I finally found a OZ Great and Powerful Art book. There are some odd terrain concept drawings I am going to use.

Mushrooms can be a troop choice in Fanticide.

Mushrooms as troops ?!? You could bomb them with salt and pepper or flatten them with a big steak.

Curses, You have revealed my plan

I thought I would share this bone WIP while there is time to find the seasonal items. I only needed two of the hands. When I broke one of the digits off to make a left hand. I realised I could use the individual bones. I found these when I took the kids to Spirit for Halloween. All of the craft stores seem to have the bags of hands. This is the larger size.

Bone ladders too.

Reshaping the hands with the heat gun has worked well. I will build the other for arm and attach it to the flying stand. The new hand will work much better than the small hands.

Nice work on the hand with the heat gun, simple but very effective.
