If every figure in that army is painted to this standard we are in for a treat with every new picture. :o

How did you make the base? It looks so smooth.

Really nice effect you've gotten there, I really like the mini. The blue shading, the metal work, the cobblestone base... all superb, well done, lets see some more :)

The base is sculpted, magic sculpt smoothed with a ruler and brushes made of silicone and oil .
Yes, the army will be painted so, I hope even better :).

oops sorry, I wanted to open a single topic about my work, so I just called Bombur wip.

The army is composed of:
Forlong Mounted
2 cav. of Dol Amroth
3 warriors of Dol Amroth
3 Lamedon

Faramir mounted (and shield and blade)
6 rangers Faramir
6 Minas with shield and spear

Boromir mounted with lance (this will be a mega conversion, this will probably be a single piece and quite original)
6 minas with shield and blade
6 minas with shield and spear

Madril
7 veterans with shield and spear
3 veterani with shield and blade

Excellent work. It's always nice to see colour on men of gondor - never much cared for the flat black of the studio army. I like the bright spots on the armour, too, especially on the rim of the shield.

Those cobblestones are amazing. How did you paint them, and did you paint the base seperately from the miniature?

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it, the work proceeds slowly, updates will be slow unfortunately.
For the base I used bleached bone and also white, soiled with the schorched brown, then I colored a couple of red tiles. I colored the stones with schorched, bestial brown and a wash of purple light on everything.

Always paint the base after the miniature and always with the workpiece mounted above.

wip.

That looks very cool! Good job mate! IMO it looks only not 'bulky' enough in comparison too the white warg from the film. Has this one been your first self sculpted miniature?
By the way, will you show some better pictures of Balin?
