Love it Paul, he has a very old and wisened look which isn't easy to achieve. As for the Tulip, is that a Noch one ?

Finished Sauron for a game this Wednesday. For the armor i used Vallejo Smoke over the GW silvers, then high lighted with Chain mail and Mithril Silver. The cloth i used Vallejo Medium Glaze to blend in the browns. Simple figure to paint really but thought i would try something different with the cloth.

Also i did not want anything living on the base so used some dead looking grasses. I guess nothing plant like would live long near this chap.

Thanks for looking

Love the job you've done Paul. It's a relatively easy figure to paint but one you can mess up, which you haven't at all, it's great. I used a similar method with mine. I applied thin Sorched Brown then highlighted the edges of the armour, it gives a real nice dirty look.
The base looks very fitting but maybe is me but I'm not sure the black edge is working. It could be fitting for this figure but if its a displayiece then I will question it. If its for gaming then I suppose there's no issue.

Really nice thread here, Weathertop looks to be coming along especially nicely and all your Gandalfs, excuse me gang-dalfs, are looking beautiful. Just a quick question, you say you went looking for stuff on Salisbury plain, do you ever pop into the Salisbury GW I myself am an occasional visitor and it would be nive to see a fellow one ringer if you go there sometimes :)

I love what you've done with Sauron's cloak :D Mixing it up a little from the normal black and silver scheme :)

Thanks for the feed back everybody, really appreciated.
- Gandalf, yes i agree, i think a brown base rim might look better, also the grass needs sorting out (just like my back garden) and maybe a little added to the back.

-King Elessar - yes i call into GW Salisbury sometimes, i buy most things either online or Frome Model Shop (an independent who is just fantastic for Paints, figures, etc) Let me know if you are ever in the area, could meet up for a chat.

Rognarr - The cloak was sprayed black to start, then i take Vallejo "Flat Earth" and add 1 part paint, 1 part "Medium Glaze" (helps slow down the drying time so you can blend the paint over the suface" and 1 part water. I then add Vallejo "US Field Drab" to the mix, apply and blend and then White to the mix to lighten.

The only thing Dry Brushed was the gravel on the base, the Blending technique is simple and looks much better, can not recommend it enough.

Again many thanks for all the feed back, it really is a great motivator

I put battledamaged Numenorean shields on the base of mine to liven it up slightly. Very nicely painted.

Probably one of my favourite Saurons that I've seen :yay:

I love the yellowy tinge to him
