Hi everyone! Just gotten into the hobby after having bought a large'ish and varied selction of miniatures on eBay. I've had a quick look around and must say the place looks to be an absolute goldmine and wealth of knowledge & talent.

I'm more a lurker than mass poster but might just be tempted to throw up a WIP or two once I fully decide on which of these cool model to try and do justice to first :)

Good luck, I hope that you enjoy the hobby! What miniatures have you bought? I suppose that you can often get lucky on ebay and the local paper with LOTR miniatures, and it will be relatively cheap to put a good sized collection together.

Hi there lavaman. :-D Welcome to One Ring.

If my Manchester, you mean the one in in the North West of England (which is rarely sunny, but is atm), then I'm not to far from you as I'm in Bolton or near enough. You play, or just paint?

Cheers fellas. I haven't clue regarding the rules but I did once participate in a game of 40k in the arndale manchester GW, it didn't last long, and not because I didn't like it, more because of all the hyperactive school kids squealing like girls and the overpowering stench of BO about the place. Haunts me to this day! LOL

I would honestly like to get into the gaming side of it all but none of my mates care in the slightest about modeling and would rather shoot up zombies on COD... Swings and roundabouts I suppose, I don't care for that, they don't care for this, It's all good, each to his own :)

So just cleaning up some ringwraiths at the minute, I've decided they are to be tickled with the hairy stick first. I'm no fan of finecast and have purposely tried finding metal models of them all but are there only seven different sculpts? I originally bought five and today spied another lot containing two different ones which I snapped up so now will have 12 but with 5 duplicates :/

Also got a fell beast and some mounted black riders (again only 3 sculpts?)

I enjoy the odd COD session but, I frankly prefer tabletop gaming which is frankly more social and leaves you with a skill and finished object s to show for your time at the end of the day!

There are 9 different ringwraiths poses on foot, but only 3 different mounted models unless you include the old Oop witchking with the rearing horse. Images of every mini released can be found stickied in the 'help with miniature figures' forum thanks to Miniman.

Some of the named Ring Wraiths will fit in well with the un-named movie wraiths, the Tainted in particular, and they have special rules that make them far more effective in the game.
