@elflover thanks, lightens things up a little.
@ mms very nice painting, hope to reach that level of painting too someday
@ azog thanks, the article on the photography workshop was a great help.
Struggled a bit with the robes too, 6 or 7 highlights, mixing paint, took me a
while...

Heh, well you're better than I was when I started. The metals on the sword look really smooth and the rest of the model is neatly done too.

Finally, I have actually managed to pass the "Chimps Challenge" of actually getting an image loaded up! I was pleased with Radagast, and really enjoyed the time painting him. I feel that the texture on his cloak was probably the most realistic fabric effect that I have managed so far.

Looks good Bilbo but the picture is a bit bright and doesn't really represent the figure well. You should probably re-shoot :)

Very good, Rognarr. I like the blue glow on Glamdring, that's a nice touch.

I am honestly more excited about the results of this painting challenge than the Eurovision Pop Contest. Thats actually not that hard as I have never been excited about the Eurovision Dirge Contest. Also I am not worried if people vote for my Radagast entry out pitty, geographical alliance or tactical voting, though I would prefer it if they generally thought that I had done a reasonable job.!

OK, here is where I got after the first painting session:

I took the photo outside with a long zoom to get some greenery from the backyard behind him. Still a lot of work left, but I might get him finished in time.

Great work, greendragon! This will be a great challenge.

I finished my Radagast yesterday. I hope the weather stays good when I get home from work so that I can take photos in good light. The forecast is blitz und donner for the evening, so I might have to do it inside. But thunderstorms are great anyway. :-)

Fantastic GD, the palette reminds me of Martin Brothers pottery. Its always intriguing to see the different idiosyncratic spins that different painter create when painting their miniatures.

Great entries so far everyone, really impressive stuff, very inspiring to see everyone's unique take on the Istari, shame no-one managed to get the sleigh done in time (mine is still very much sitting in its box), but I guess there's still 12 hours to go!

So I've managed to get my entry In by the skin of my teeth! Here he is, Radgast mounted, ready to take to the field at Battle Brothers next weekend (along with the as yet unpainted 2 eagles and Eomer!). I really enjoyed painting him in the end, it was slow even by my standards, took me about 3 weeks to paint this guy and the foot version but I'm pretty pleased with the result. Good luck all!
