Hi all,

I've never been brave enough to make one of these threads, as I have always feared a lack of commitment would result in it being quickly abandoned.

However, I've decided to suck it up and rely on all of you to keep my progress stable. I realise I'm doing this the wrong way around, but here's a job that I've just completed:

Apologies if the photos are a bit large. I've learnt a lot making this, and could probably do a much better job if I had to repeat it. Still, I think it makes a nice addition to Mordor's arsenal :)

That's not a job it's almost a quest as there is that much work involved. The scale is mightily impressive.

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate them.
Grond itself is off a recurring eBay auction from some guy in Greece. The kit comes with wood to build the frame, but it was pretty poor quality so I had to make the entire frame from scratch.

I might look into getting some Great Beasts in the future (not the oversized GW ones though).

Can't decide what to paint next now! Thinking either Blackroot Vale Archers or WOMT.

Here's a minor update; a rushed job as I was trying to decide what project to tackle next:

I've decided to move onto a small batch of Blackroot Vale Archers.

Hey guys,

So it only took two years but I've finally got an update for this thread.

Obviously I'm extremely far from the world's best painter, but I'm pretty happy with these guys. I've decided to change the way I approach skin from now on, and I think it'll be worth trying some bolder highlights on the cloaks.

Anyway, I'm about to start a big job that I'll need as much help and advice with as possible. I've got a bunch of Knights of Dol Amroth that I'm looking to convert (a little bit) to avoid a whole heap of troops with identical poses.

I'll post some updates once I start making a total mess of things!

Welcome back.
First and best piece of advice, thin your paints and mix your colours to work up to a highlight, don't do big jumps from light to dark. That is best served by those with a lot of experience of how to paint different surfaces

Thanks mate, certainly advice I'll follow once I'm ready to paint the blokes below!

So I've begun the terrifying task of cutting my SKODA to pieces. I got the blu tac out to experiment with some new poses for them. These are what I have so far:

I have a few more ready for the clippers, so any and all comments/suggestions welcome :)

I like what you have done with your SKODA's. Especially the one on the left is way more dynamic than GW's pose!
Looking forward what other poses you are going to create ;)

So I've been busy slicing up and bending my SKODA in the vague hope that they'll turn out alright once I finish painting them.

Sprayed them today, which has made them rather difficult to photograph. Anyway, here's what I've come up with:

Looking really good. The one real disadvantage of having a metal army is the lack of diversity in poses, you've done a great job of remedying that!

Some great looking poses there, really like those on the right in the group shot (striding forwards and the stabby stance).

Got the poses sorted, now for some paint. These are great figures and once they are all done I'm sure they will be impressive to see.

Thanks for the comments guys, really appreciate them!

So I'm finally ready to start painting, which for some reason I'm a tiny bit nervous about starting. Big job ahead though, so I'd best get into it :)
