Great job! The osl is really good, I can't really think of any more advice than what's already been given, so keep up the good work. 8)
The dwarf lord looks good too, here are a few things I noticed though.
First, you got some of the base color on the cloak(which looks good btw) and his boots, so you might want to go back over those areas and fix that.
Second, it looks like in the deeper recesses you missed a few spots and can see the metal, around the hair especially. There's also a bit of grey between his fingers, not a big deal but I thought I'd point it out to you.
Other than what I mentioned, he looks great! I particularly like the blue of his vest thing. I'm possibly going to start painting my dwarf lords, and I may steel that.
Good job again!

@Rognarr: Thanks mate! I'm a real sucker for the red on the cloak :-D

@Gothmog: :D Thanks for the praise mate :)

@Dorth and Power of will: :D Yay! constructive criticism! om nom nom :yum:
@Dorth: Where do you think he needs more definition?
@PoW: 1. You're very right :o I'm mighty lazy when it comes to thing like that... I'll try to fix that habit 8)
2. Right you are. A few of the bits around the hair are where the paint has rubbed off, but yes, I'll try to fix that 8)

Thanks :D

@John Wayne: It's mostly just the blue inner garment that are my older painting but yes, I concur, it's not quite as good as my more recent stuff. Thanks :)

PS please excuse this rather befuddled post, quite a few comments to address  :)

Definition - something subtle now, just a touch of shade to add a wee bit more depth and separation for example on the platelets of his armour, and between the armour and the clothing over the top of it. I do mean just the teeniest bit.

The writing on the banner says
"Kneel before the might of the white hand!"
:lurtz: :saruman
Really somewhat happy with him :) And now my uruk army is finished :D

Kneel before the might of the White Hand? Ok, a perfectly plausible slogan for the egotistical Saruman to have given to his troops.
So now you need variants for your other uruk banners - High Five for Isengard! Da White Hand is in da Westfold.... etcetera :)
The bannerbearer looks fantastic. Keep up the fantastic work!

lol thanks guys :-D

Update! :D

As I already have a 'fellowship-y' looking Gimli that I am pleased with, I decided to do this one a bit more regal, as how he might have looked as the lord of the glittering caves....

C&C welcome as ever

PS. Sorry about the slowness of the Mounted Gandalf project... He was all finished until he got violently attacked by both the primer and also the dettol I used to try to remove the primer. Thus some of the green stuff is peeling away and some has gone a bit floppy. Shame too, it was some of my best sculpting... :(

Looks great Sid. Only thing I would suggest if i may is one of his eyes (the left eye when you are looking at the model is a little too close to his nose which is giving him a little bit of a cross eyed look. The other eye is perfect. A very minor thing on an overall great job. Well done.

Hi Sid,

I like this one a lot, the face is really great! But I also like the helmet and the red leather armour a lot. Only suggestion: the gloves look a bit flat, one or two highlights more would perhaps change that, especially on the edges! This would give them a bit more definition and add nice contrast.

Well done, buddy!

@DMS: Hmm, now I look at it, you're right.... ah well, it's small so I'll leave it this time. Thanks though 8)

@Farnial: I did the first layer with a 2/0 and then for the highlight I used a 10/0 and then I used the 2/0 to touch up the parts that looked messy.

@gunslinger: Thanks man. :) Aye, the flat gloves are just me being lazy  straight-out-the-pot scorched brown followed by a straight-out-the-pot dark flesh highlight is one of my favourite colour combinations and I use it for tons of stuff, often regardless of depth. Will add more highlights next time 8) Thanks

Gimli the cross-eyed dwarf. That reminds me of the Billy Connolly story about an American friend of his who was very confused as a child - she thought there was a teddybear in Heaven with an eye problem as every week in the church they sang about 'Gladly the Cross I'd bear'. An eminently understandable confusion.
Nice work Sid. Don't be lazy-it is very annoying to look at a mini and wish you had spent another few minutes on it.
I just wish I had any time to spend right now.
