As you may or may not know, the Hobbit/ Lotr ToS is taking place over the weekend 9-10th Feb at WHW in Nottingham. I already know a couple of people are going (muppetslayer, Gondorian Captain) but was wondering if anyone else from here was planning on going.

Tickets are a little steep at £60 but imo well worth it, get lunch and dinner included in the price.

If anyone from down south is thinking of going and wants to save a bit on travel, I have 2 empty seats in my car. Option is there for anyone that whats it, all that is required is a good singing voice and a petrol contribution.

Hope to see you all there :)

It is tempting, but I don't know if I'd have enough money... I'm in Cambridge at the moment... and will have a Moria army ready by then thanks to a WotR grudge match planned... I'll get back to you!

I was thinking of going a while back but im skint, no job, put on too much weight and im a bit nooby when it comes to gaming (more of a collector) and my Rohan army would get minced everytime. :( Maybe next year.

I'm going along with one friend who isn't on the forum. Really looking forward to it to be honest, went to the Doubles last June and loved it, I get the feeling that this might be a bit more 'serious' though. Still, hopefully the move to 'Throne of Skulls' rather than a 'tournament' and all that entails (5 random opponents, no final ranking) might turn off some of the power players and make it a bit more fun.

My biggest issue is what army to take! 4 weeks out and I'm still undecided, I'm currently leaning towards a mass infantry Isengard force or a slightly more fun Helm's Deep defence force comprised of Galadhrim, Rohan Warriors and cool heroes.

I've got 3 games lined up over the weekend to try and decide! The 12 half painted Feral Uruks on my desk are currently steering me towards Isengard, we shall see!

I might finally get around to starting a WIP thread this year too, might be able to get some opinions on my choice of army that way to! :-)

If someone wants to help me decide on a Goblin Town/Moria and Angmar list... Gee that'd be swell.

My list is something along the lines of

Great Goblin, Grinnah, 2 Captains, 48 Goblins
2 Moria Shamans, 8 Blackshields, Gundabad Drum
2 Shades
Dwimmerlaik

No copying :P

It wouldn't be copying as that's basically my list already :P

Are the hobbit minis allowed? The Hobbit rulebook isn't listed in the legal sourcebook list at the end of the terms and conditions, or is that just outdated?...

it is outdated. Simon Grant confirmed on the fb page for the event that it would be using hobbit rules.

Okay, so I'm seriously tempted by this... when would I have to decide by? There still spaces in your car? I don't need much leg space, I'm pretty short... but I might need to wait until the next paycheque... how long are tickets on sale for?

im pretty sure tickets are on sale until a week before. There is still a seat I think, also depends where your hotel is in relation to WHW.

Yeah, dunno what I'm gonna do about hotel yet... The final models I need for my army+ToS ticket+hotel makes this a pretty expensive venture... Which I will perfectly be able to afford as long as I can wait until next paycheque... Have you guys booked hotels yet? Anyone wanna let me crash in a sleeping bag on the floor and split the cost 50/50? :P ... Not sure if I'm joking or not!

Also- would you be going up the Friday evening or the Saturday Morning? What time would you be leaving?

Sorry about all the questions, just seeing of this is actually feasible!

Officially signed up for this now - will be booking my train ticket and hotel later today. I'll be staying at the Nottingham Castle Marinas hotel, doesn't seem so far away from the venue.

I'll also be travelling up on the Friday and leaving Monday morning. So count me in for an early friendly game Southy 8)

Hey Zora, i'm crashing at a mates house while I'm there (plus hotels kick you out if you sneak people in - I asked) I have now booked off the friday before so was planning on leaving no later than 10am, the earlier the better. Where abouts are you based?

There are plenty of hotels in nottingham, the premier Inns tend to be around £80 ish for the weekend. (2 nights)

We (myself and muppetslayer) arnt planning on going home till monday evening. hoping to have a lazy day and play a few friendly games (hopefully) with knighty and shieldmaiden if she can make it.

Ah, won't be able to then I'm afraid... I'm a teacher, so very much limited to the weekend. Ah well, maybe next time and thanks for the offers. I'm in sunny ol' Cambridge.
