Great work. Love the orc - nice and gritty looking. How are u painting the metal? Maybe you are putting too much shade on? The warrior of MT seems a bit too black on the metal parts.

Black undercoat then drybrushed with boltgun metal, chainmail then washed with badab black and finally drybrushed again with mirthril. It doesn't quite look right any tips?

I'm no expert, but I would paint over the black undercoat with your metal paint rather than drybrush (ie give it a metal basecoat). I think by drybrushing over the black then putting a black wash on top of that is giving it too much black. I would do say a boltgun metal undercoat then maybe a black wash for shade then mithril for highlights. The highlights could be drybrushed on.

I used to do a black undercoat for everything. Now I do white for almost everything. I like the results using white much better. I think the colours over the white are much truer. If you want things to be dark just give them extra washes.

Hope that helps.

I agree with edge67 re painting metals. Try giving the armour a coat of boltgun metal then drybrushing with chainmail before you do your ink, the Boltgun basecoat will give a better contrast to the overall appearence of your model.

Thanks for the metal tips I've been using that method and got much better results :) I've also nearly finished my first figure with a white undercoat. Really excited to put some pics up once I'm done cos it's a bit of a cool idea for a character and I'm happy with the paint job

Here it is all done, I like the Agandaur character from the lord of the rings war of the north video game. I didn't want to tackle a big conversion so I just chose a black numenorean that looked as close to him as possible and painted it to look like him. :)

Nice work! Might have to try something similar for my own, the armour looks to have improved significantly from earlier works! :)

Nice idea. You should paint some more highlight on the red.

Thanks guys appreciate it :) Bastion I don't think the photos do the robes any justice especially the one from the back, in real life all of the robes look like the bottom of the first pic so I'm reluctant to change it at this stage but maybe down the track when I get more confidence I'll add a bit of bleached bone to my blood red for just the edges :)

I've scrapped doing the rohan figs for now and have started fellowship Boromir just 30 minutes ago, I'm satisfied with the face I've used a different method instead of tallarn flesh>ogryn wash> elf flesh for highlights I've gone with a dark flesh basecoat and gradually built it up with thin mixes of tallarn flesh + elf flesh, elf flesh itself and elf flesh + skull white, hopefully the rest will be done this week.

After that is a mordor troll which I've had to do a fair bit of modelling on. I started painting it in 2004 when I had no idea about green stuff and pinning. Nearly finished all that and will be ready to take on after Boromir.... scary!!

Nice paints, but that Boromir's eyes look like a psychopath. You should paint a little bit bigger iris. Go, check some photos about the actor.

Thankyou :) the toes aren't done yet. I'm just working on the leather parts and strappings at the moment... I'm so slow :( I've not yet pained toes before something like scorched brown then bestial then bleached bone is what I'm thinking but I'm not sure
