I started collecting lotr figs back in 2001 but never really painted many and stopped about 2004. Well I'm back and determined to paint them all mainly for display purposes at home. I'm relatively new at painting so would love all the feedback and tips I can get :)

Heres a list of what I've painted and upcoming projects:

Completed:
1 Moria Goblin
1 Warrior of Rohan
1 Ranger of Gondor

In progress:
1 Warrior of Minas Tirith
1 Mordor Orc

Upcoming:
1 Rider of Rohan (I've never painted a horse before  )
1 Rohan Royal Guard
1 Easterling

Pics of the completed and progress models to come shortly! :)

No I have heaps but it's just what I've done. I can't really speed paint and I tend to take 2-3 hours each model so I work on 1 at a time hehe :)

now wait just a minute sir, did you carve a horse into that warrior of rohans helmet? If so   that is very nice. Good painting, but remember, as I say, these are either tools or jewels. Will you be ok with them getting chipped? if not them I would find a way to varnish them a bit heavier, like put a gloss varnish on first(dries to a much harder surface) followed by a matte varnish.

Thanks for the feedback :) I don't mind any criticisms either I just wanna try improve as much as I can so I can start to paint some of my named characters. I wish I could carve a horse like that lol but its just the original model with mithril silver on the raised parts to stand out more. I'm reluctant to varnish them purely because they'll be going on display and rarely touched as I don't play the game just interested in collecting all my favourite minis.

Currently working on the mordor orc, I didn't file enough of the mould line so it looks a little funny :( lesson learned for nexttime!

Welcome Green Dragon, (makes more sense to say welcome to the Green Dragpn, but nice username)

You have a very nice stlye, they are much better than my first ever models, they were 95% flat colour. I think that you will go very far in future. If you have a Sauron model, why not considere entering in this months painting challenge?

if these are for display then I would work on removing the mold lines on the plastic models before you prime them. Scraping perpendicular with a hobby knife works well, as do small files for hard to reach areas.

I have a sauron and I woulda loved to have done that but I'm too scared to paint him at this stage >< especially with the trouble I'm having with metallic paint on my warrior of minas tirith. I'm getting a hobby knife for the moulds so hopefully I won't have anymore like that orc.

Done more work on the orc finished the hair and fur and touched up his back where i accidently left black, will have it finished tomorrow with a picture to follow :)
