Hi there guys, I would like to ask you about my gondor army plan. If I will finish with my Mordor army, and that will happen soon, I will build my Gondor army. I have most of the figures, the question is, how should I use them in WOTR.
So this is the list, what I created:

-4C mt warrior (cap, bann)
-2C archer
-4C mt warrior
-4C Guards of Fountain (cap, bann, horn)
-4C mounted Knights of dol armoth (King Aragorn+bann+horn)
-4C Mt Knights (cap)
-3C Ranger
-Treebeard
________________________-
1500 points

So what do you thing. I choose the Fountain Guards, cause I alredy have 6 figures, and I like their costume, are they a good formation, or do you suggest else? Thank you for your help.
Oh, and I didnt plan to use in this list any catapult, but I really want to build one. What do you think, are the catapults useful?
What do you think about ghosts with Ghost King? Are they useful?

I suggest, drop the fountain court guards, treeebeard, the knights of dol amroth and command models. Get moreMinas Tirith Knights and Warriors and axemen, Faramir or Imrahil would be a good idea too, and perhaps Gandalf or Saruman

I accept to drop the guards, and dol armoth, but what about treebeard and the command models? If my army only has mt warriors, then it would be a very boring army. I dont plan to get axemens, they are avalible only in blisters, and that would be hard to convert them. I have a Faramir figure, maybe I could put him in the army. I also want to keep King Aragorn, that figure is so amazing.
Maybe I change FGuards to Osgiliath veterans, or Citadel guards.
Gandalf the white also sound good, I have the mounted version.

Why would you have him drop the Knights of Dol Amroth? They are some of the best cavalry in the game.

Looks good to me. The only thing I would change is dropping all the command options and Ic of Rangers and get some more Hero's.
280 points wow.

You could fit in:

Elladan, Elrohir,Isuldir and Imrahil. Much better than captains, You'll have Inspiring Leaders and Epic Strike Hero's.

The Twins are handy for their points making then expendable. You could draw a might away from a Ringwraith with a Herioc Duel (or they Black Dart but then your more than likely safe from a round of casting) or you could rush your line up with a Herioc Move incase you are facing an army that likes to sit back and shoot.

They are some of the most expensive cavalry in the game...and in the same list as some of the most cost-effective cavalry in the game.

Well, I have a Boromir, Aragorn, Faramir, Denethor and Damrod figure, so these are the heroes that I have.

Personally, I quite like Captains in infantry formations and even just Aragorn and Faramir (this depends on how concerned about the making it plausible in terms of the story) are sufficient for Epics on top of Captains. Epics are great but Faramir and Aragorn can extend their courage bubble quite far and using captains really does provide a heap of extra troops at the 25pt per coy Gondor prices.

That stated, I'm not sure what the second-hand market is like in Hungary (though I guess it is international these days anyway) but I've never had any trouble getting any of the commonly available and useful heroes secondhand and quickly so you could look at adding: Isildur (he has the right profile for something like one of Imrahil's sons) Ganbdalf, Radagast, Saruman, Elven Twins, Gimli (not a fan of Legolas) Peregrin and Imrahil. All of those have pretty common versions.

I don't know abou Xelee but I wouldn't use them, waste of points and money really. Increased strength I think is only benefit.

Because they got the pts value wrong, the rulebook lists them as 30pts per company but the FAQ revealed that they are in fact 60pts

Are they so strong? They can go cross everything, and cause terror, and with the King they could go 24 inch also. Hmm, they sound good.

I trust that he asked "why" because what matters is that he knows the correct cost, not that his opponents might not!

RE: Citadel Guards, I agree with GothmogtheWerewolf. It is a shame because I like the models. The reality with Gondor is that you will be looking at their 25-30pt units first then seeing what the rest of the list might add as a specific bonus/piece of flavour.

I like Gondor's Legendaries (well Osgiliath Vets, Grey Company, Blackroot Vale archers, anyway) a lot. Not super-effective or cost-efficient but not terrible either and something different to add to the mix.

Ghosts seem interesting... unless your opponent has Inspiring Leaders or pleny of courage 5+ heroes.

I can tell you from personal experience that Ghosts (and AotD) are not worth 60pts per company, they are overcosted.

I used the King of Dead at 30 points/company for a few games before finding the FAQ change and they were devastating at that cost. At 60 points, its tough to make it worthwhile. Generally you'll be fighting Courage 5 so hitting on 5's with the same rolls needed coming back, no advantage whatsoever. You could do the same with WoMT, hitting on 6's with same rolls coming back. Better to pawn swap 25pt companies than 60.
