I only really get bored when I am painting multiples of the same model...that is why I paint one or two of a certain type and move on to another for a while. Probably explains why I only have a hobbit army completed. Hehe

I haven't tackled more than a couple Goblins at a time, but they and WoMT strike me as potentially boring due to the significant amount of armor and very little overall customization (staying within PJ's presentation of them at least). I have painted a couple boxes of Uruk Hai scouts and armored warriors over the years and they were a small taste of this, but at least with them you can do some extras with the White Hand and such.

I have painted a lot of Orcs, Wargs/Riders and Wood Elves, all of which have the potential for repetition but I found that using a limited pallet doesn't have to mean repetitious painting. Grab 4-6 models, paint the pallet one way on them (red pants, brown tunic, green skin), then grab another few model and paint them a little different (gray skin, brown pants, red tunic). Finish up details on the models, give various degrees of washes and you can have a nice looking variety.

Here are a few pics of some of the Wood Elves I have done so far. I have about 100 of them (80% complete) and generally did my best to minimize the risk of any two looking exactly the same. http://tac-me.net/index.php/mymodels/lotrmodelsgood/94-lotr-models-wewarriors

Warriors of Minas Tirith get the vote from me as being the most boring figure to paint. Mainly due to the vast majority of the model being armour, and the bits that aren't armour are traditionally very dull (being mainly black or brown) which is why I think it's a great idea to use alternative colour schemes. Painting a Warrior of Minas Tirith with red cloth would be far more enjoyable than painting one with the usual black cloth. But that's just my opinion, some people rather enjoy painting armour and metallics, I'm just not one of them.

I know what you mean about Grishnakh - he got on my nerves too, think it was all the fur and leather, hard to make out what was what.

It always makes a model more difficult/frustrating/boring to paint if you don't know what's what.

An individual model isnt usually too boring, I just hate painting huge numbers of the same thing,. Minas Tirith warriors are annoying as hell though. And high elves.

Not lotr, but honourable mention has to go to the island of blood lothern seaguard. Painting some now and they have put far too much detail on them. Wouldn't often complain about this, and credit to the designers for managing it, but the entire model is covered in little bits and pieces which is extremely time consuming, not something I want in basic troops. And these are models from a starter set as well. If i bought it as a starter I don't know what i'd do.

Lurtz is pretty boring to paint. It is basically three colours, I'm looking for inspiration for painting the leather details (gloves, belts, straps and sandals) a different colour from the leather armour. I think if I paint them the same colour the detail will be lost.
