I think this is my favourite lotr figure. Such a simple yet well executed design of possibly the most iconic character from the book and a joy to paint. If only the finecast miniature was available solo.

Looks pretty good. Could you maybe get a brighter picture like the first ones of Gandy? I think it might help us see more of your beautiful models.

:yay: All your miniatures look spectacular man! The style is really smooth and well put together. I must say you have improved over your earlier miniatures!

No problem:

I made the most of the bank holiday by starting on Saruman:

I have gone for much deeper shading than usual for his robes and with hindsight I should have used a foundation paints for this. It took a lot of layers of graveyard earth to get a solid colour as it has terrible coverage.

In contrast the cloak of this Blackroot vale guy took about five minutes using a different approach inspired by the exceptionally talented Jeremie Bonamant Teboul. The blending is admittedly very rough as I was more concerned with the overall effect.

Hi guys. Well it's been a while since my last post as I have been painting a lot non-lotr stuff and not been on the internet much. Recently I have got back into lotr with a lot of ebay purchases working towards my aim of having all of the named characters.

First up are the elves (and possible monthly challenge entries time permitting:)

I'm thinking of painting all of them in nmm but which style should I use?

They look absolutely great, very nice work on the armour in particular. 8)
I can't help you with NMM, but they already are awesome!

Thanks guys. I've done a little more work on Glofindel tonight and it's looking like I should have it done by the end of the week.

I've almost done my first batch of rank and file elves. Painting the armour has been quite a learning process so the effect is a little uneven but I've got it down to less than half an hour.
