In the thread on Strength the idea came up as to whether to change the "average" Strength and Defense to 4 from 3 just to give a bit of room at the bottom end of the scale.
It's potentially a lot of work, so I'd like to decide and commit before going much further with the other profiles. The real question is, is it worth it?
Pros:
- It would help create a bit of room at the bottom for differentiating between Men and the smaller races (normal Orcs, Dwarves, small Orcs/Goblins, Hobbits).
- Armour benefits stay the same, as heavy armour + shield would result in D7, for which S4 needs a 6 to wound.
Cons:
- Weapons with an intrinsic value would have to have their power increased to accommodate, eg: Bows become S3, Elf bows S4, etc. Hobbit's thrown stones S2...?
- Every profile must be touched. Originally I had thought of leaving spiders, wargs, trolls, etc alone, but with this change their Strength and Defense must be increased as well.
- Sauron loses, as his Defense stays at 10. Maybe he gets a point drop.
S1 - special models like Lobelia
S2 - Hobbits, small Orcs, Goblins
S3 - Dwarves, Orcs, Uruk hai, Sylvan Elves, Sindar
S4 - Men, Half-Orcs, Noldor
S5 - Numenorians, Gondor and Arnor elites, Dunedain
Is it worth it?
