Thanks guys :)

@ Cal--yup, my first attempt too. Glad you like it :)

@ Michael--still trying to figure that one out...I don't think we have an editing program. Can you do that in PaintShop?

Yes, you can resize and/or crop pictures using PaintShop or Photoshop, but even MS Paint allows you to do it very easily.

To resize a picture just select the command Resize in the menu Image. Might take a few attempts to get it right because it works with %.

To crop a picture you need to use the Select tool (dotted rectangle on the top of the toolbar) to errrm, select the area you want to keep and then pick the Crop command on the Image menu.

Hope this helps.

I think I've finally figured out how to crop photos. Thanks Mac!

Newest model. I've gotten four others done besides this, pics soon!

These are coming along surprisingly quick. And I've got six months to do them all :)

The pic is a bit dark, doesn't show all of the details. There's more shading on the robes and the edge highlights are brighter IRL.

Looking ok the one thing I would say is that the tabard highlights are a bit abrupt, I think a few more intermediate layers to soften the transition from dark to light would really improve the look.

I agree, these don't stand up to close inspection too well, but look good at range. When I get to heros/etc I'll be doing a lot more gradual blending, these are being painted to look good from a short distance.

Here's an update of what I've gotten done over the last day or so. The two marines with different robe colors haven't been washed yet, after the wash they'll look the same as the others

Almost finished, just needs touch-up, cleaning up of highlights and bit of work on the weathering.

Thanks :)

I recently ordered the SM Chaplain in Terminator armour..simply because, IMHO, it's the best Marine miniature in the whole range....

It'll be good to do a hero miniature for once. I'll be looking for stark, harsh, blunt criticism, as I want to do my absolute best on this miniature.

Very goos job on the Dreadnought, though I'd suggest giving the edges one fine highlight of codex grey. I also like they way the clothes turned out, these marines look great in a group, keep it up :)

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

@ Viruk, I'll probably be doing that. Recently got some Windsor and Newton brushes with a much finer tip than GW's fine detail brushes so I think I feel brave enough for some very extreme highlights. The commissioner said he'd like a bit more contrast on the black, so I'll do that.

@ Wiktor thanks! I'll post close-ups with the next update. 8)

that black and white colour scheme looks great.
and your attention for details makes it even better.
looking forward to the close ups.
one note: isn't the white on the big machine guy (sorry for my lack of 40k education  ) a bit to white compared to the marines.
really love the snow base 8)

Wow! That is easily some of your best work, it's simply fantastic. You're becoming a simply fantastic painter, Josh! The skull in particular stands out as one of the best painted skulls I've seen. The blending is just so smooth. I also really like the decorative wings, as they also have a very smooth transition. The only area that could perhaps use a bit more contrast is the parchment, but even that looks great as is. Great work, Josh! 8)

Thanks Josh! Comments like yours truly are the best inspiration...I must go paint more in a moment!

I'm glad you like it :D I agree on the parchment, it needs a tad more contrast, mainly darker shading. I'll finish it and hopefully do the armour in the next update 8)

So far awesome mate ;) I'll keep bugging you for close ups on details :) When dealing with heroes it's just 'a must do" ;)

Skull is amazing ;) One tip, drill holes in gun's barrel ;)
