I would guess that an Armoured Fell Beast head with a horn slot (and horn) for a Horned Fell Beast conversion would be included as well as the normal one because the profiles for 4 of the named ringwraiths show as quoted bellow.
(this is from a previous issue of WD)

Quote:
The Shadow Lord wears heavy armour and carries a hand weapon. He may ride the following at an additional cost.

Horse.............................10 points
Fell Beast........................50 points
Armoured Fell Beast.........70 points
Horned Fell Beast.............75 points

It is same for the other 3 named ringwraiths in the issue.
These profiles can also be found on the WD Archive

Luckily, the Witch King's Fellbeast is posed differently, so that would only mean 8 identical ones.

I can see them doing a frame with alternate parts to make either a Fellbeast, horned Fellbeast or armoured Fellbeast, probably with generic Ringwraith rider, maybe just maybe some parts to make the Witch-king, as it then frees up in-store shelf space.

I do like the idea of Direct Only alt. Fellbeast riding named Nazgul though.

I like the idea of getting every rider in the box in order to justify its $50+ price tag and in order to move away from the metal/plastic hybrids.
Hybridizing the kit would be a mistake. Having a comparatively heavy lump of metal perched quite high above the center of gravity on a model who likely will have a very weak join to its base.

Big mistake.

Direct only can bugger off. I am very tired of that marketing 'strategy'.

1 different pose among 8 of the same still isn't much variety...

And as far as I'm conced, Direct Only is the only option I have, as my local hobbyist has 3 LotR products: The WotR rules, the SBG rules, and the Mines of Moria box set. The other 3 shelves are all WHFB and 40K.

Maybe you should try asking the staff to get more stuff in for you. If they have the rules, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to get other items.

If we cannot have the different riders in the plastic kit, which given the complexity and detail of the latest sprues shouldn't be a problem, then I would have no problem with them doing some Direct Order riders. They couldn't be that expensive.

I will suspend judgement until I see the beast in the flesh, but thanks for the sneak peek (Backlog fear factor increases by 0.002).

LOL, think my backlog fear factor has also had a negligible increase...the paint job on the model looks horrendous and the only thing I can see is that this guy will be as fragile as the plastic horses of Gondor and Rohan, but I've been wrong before. :)

Thanks for putting that up Bart! :)

This interests me. I've never had a Fell Beast before, but this one sounds as though it would be much easier to convert a little into whichever pose I like. Still though, I've been moving away from Mordor. My Morannon Orcs have been appropriated as "Great Goblins" for my Moria horde and the Orcs have been taken in by a kindly old Wizard and his Uruk subjects.

All in all, it doesn't look like he'll make it into many games if I do decide to get one.

One nice thing about it is that it doesnt have the stupic huge flail anymore.

Thank goodness. So in just that single detail it is a better model already. Sort of...

The paint job isn't good, and frankly I'm a little TOed that they haven't given us full body shots (Hopefully someone will get that reference :) ). But in the end what really determines if I'll buy it is the price.

thats the happiest looking fellbeast i've seen. don't know if its just a dodgy angle but it looks like it's grinning and ruins the picture.

what i assume is a doombull looks interesting though

Oh, come on, it doesn't look that bad.

Certainly not the best painting i've seen the 'eavy metal team do, though. The extreme highlights on the tongue and cloth are too sharp. But, it's the mini I'm mainly interested in, not the way GW paints it.

It could be better, but I like it. 8)
