Hopefully they will be able to produce some models that are in the Hobbit films, although that's a few years away :-X

Which sadly limits us as well. Can't wait to see the BoFA in the film actually, we'll definitely get some goblins on wargs then. :)

The front cover of that LOTR gift guide looks remarkably like the front cover of the 2008 GW Christmas Guide. Are you sure this isn't year-old news?

Remember what the 31st of October was this year? A Saturday. This is something that GW never updated since last year, Billy. They can be very misleading.

It has been around for a few years now. It's not new... or even good for that matter...

The Watcher tentacles aren't any good? I was going to buy some for the FotR campaign.

As for the gift guide, GW releases a new one every year, so I'm sure they will again this year, even if a lot of the dates are currently incorrect.

That's a shame about the Hasharin, its a far superior model compared to the new one. I'm also upset to see the Haldir's Elves go, I was going to pick some up for a planned Lothlorien army. :(

For the elves of Haldir there are now the plastic models in boxes.
Same with a lot of other oop models. why would you pay for 6 metal dwarf when you can buy 24 plasic models for the same price.

For other named heroes it is something different. No more Beregond, Damrod, Hama etc. There is a new Halbarad model(again) and we have to wait if all the named model wil be again in production or not.

Damrod and Beregrond are still avaliable in US, not sure about Netherlands. :)

I would, because metal ones are more detailed and I am in this hobby for the painting side, rather than the gaming. Of course, most would rather buy the plastic ones, but not me......

I'm well aware there are plastics now. I was simply going to add in a few of those into my as I think they're nice models, and would add a nice touch of diversity to the force. It just serves to make the force more visually interesting and appealing. :)

Looks like I'll have to browse eBay for them.

There's always plenty of Haldir's Elves on ebay. I know this: I have rather a lot of them, and will likely be hunting down a few more to fill out the 2500 pt WOTR Lorien army.

Based on nothing more than gut instinct, I suspect they made a lot more models back in the days of the "Lord of the Rings bubble" - probably something like 15,000 blisters then, and 3,000 blisters now of any given thing. (With some variants for popularity)

So you can pretty much always find Dwarf Kings, Rohan Royal Guard, Haldir's Elves, Eomer on Horse, Fellowship Aragorns on ebay, but far less things like the newer Nazgul (and forget about the Direct Only models, they are like hen's teeth)
