Ugh, not a very well painted miniature that Gimli if you ask me, now that I look back at it, but that was more than four years ago.
For some reason the article says 2009 but that must have been because of some update here on OR, I can't really say that article stands for me anymore.

yea i dont think its as good as your other miniatures like the high elf hero . . . but if you put a article up about that no one would be able to paint it :-D

your gimli article is perfect for begginers trying to get into the intermediate level.

Amazing painting. :yay:

What paints did you use? Oil paints? Or water colours?

Yep, watercolour.

The mounted mage project is coming to an end, only the base needs to be painted. I've gotten so attached to this one that I'm having second thoughts about putting it up for auction.

I'll have to wait until friday before I can post proper pictures of the finished miniature tho, I only got a 4 megapixel camera here but can borrow a 10 at my folks house.

Until then:

Eye-wateringly tasty! The freehand and the fold highlights are incredible! Not to mention, the steed is fantastic 8) But as Dorth rightly protests 'we want LOTR!' :P

Thank you, I'm extra glad you like the base. I wanted to create a "wilderness" feeling to it. The snow is made of woodland scenic snow, and turned out much better the second time around compared to the high elf hero, which is the result of a positive learning curve :)

I will finish the eldar I have on commission, and then I think it's time for some lotr, back to the roots!

Yes, I always wet blend. Actually if you browse back to page 6, there's a little discussion about it. Since this thread has grown into a monster, maybe I should get an index for it :P

And thanks for the coin, it actually got me up one rank (I'm not sure what that entails, but I think it's something in terms of dagorlad letting me run wild in whatever thread I start)
