I'm loving it even more. I think it'll be a great game as it is, looks great and the levels look brilliant.

It'll need some modding for perfection, but is is damn close.

This game looks absolutely, absolutely awful. It seems to be completely removed from the Lord of the Rings. Infact, the only thing to do with Middle-earth (to be seen from all the videos in the above post) is the scenery.

I mean..what is with that 'mage' idea? There must be some absolute ESIV Oblivion fanboys who developed this game from their 'research' of having watched the LotR movies 5 years ago, and asking a bunch of people who believe "Gimly" is correctly spelled, "What would you put into a poorly thought-out Lord of the Rings game to make it seem ultra cool and far removed from the source material? Force-lightning?".

Not looking good.

EDIT - grenades. Fantastic. Fan-blooming-tastic. I wouldn't have expected anything less. Well, except from being given the option to utilise the "scoped assault rifle" power-up after scoring x number of consecutive kills. But ... you never know - it could be on the cards from what has been seen.

I think pandemic has to choose a direction with this game, they either want to appeal to the Lord of the Rings fans and remove those HIDEOUS Mages, Scouts, grenades, Fire Swords, Poison Arrows and what-not. If they want to please the RPG Fanboys who want to take it to a greater level, It'll be perfect. :roll:

I agree with removing the mages and fire-things, but don't really mind the scouts.

I'd rather have it take another year of production to remove the mages and sword-things, than releasing it now with the mages etc.

There has to be some way to make that clear to those who are responsible for the game?

There "is", pandemic has made a forum for the community to state their opinions, but don't bother goiung on there. it's full of eejits. :roll:

I logged on there to ask for Mod Tools, as I don't trust Pandemic to make any of the changes we want. :roll:

Yeah, I've seen the Pandemic boards. The lot of them are fools, but there are a few good people in there.

Here's the thing: it was meant to be a Fantasy game first. Then they're like "Oh, we can make this LoTR!" and so they did, only making minimal changes to the game/concept, probably hoping to attract a few extra fans.

Pandemic has even been quoted stating something to the effect of they're trying to make a good fantasy game, not a good LoTR game.

Here's the argument I like most: would anyone have been upset if they DIDN'T put mages or grenade-bombs in there? My guess is no. Maybe a few people would be like "lol hey u no wut wuld be kool? if they had MAGEZ," but nobody would be generally upset.

By putting in mages and poison arrows and flashy nonsense and bombs, they've put off more people than they've attracted. Ugh. If Mercenaries 2 wasn't coming out, I'd be very disappointed in them.

The more I hear about this game the worse it sounds.
I liked the BFME series but some of the wizards you could make in those were a little fantasyish.

I think the flame trails behind the swords are alot like the official L.O.T.R games. I thought they were unnecessary and rather distracting. Likewise with the arrows and their upgrades, the trails of purple just put me off, so I would start again trying not to get upgrades to make it more realistic.

As for it being a fantasy game with some L.O.T.R elements I am disgusted, if you are going to make a L.O.T.R game make it properly or don't make it at all.

After saying all this I am still going to buy it, it has the L.O.T.R name and therefore is worth buying. But then again I think that is the only reason the developers made under the L.O.T.R name. Just for ratings and recognition.

The game looks great with good graphics but you guys are right. there making it a little too sci-fi

. but my other isssue is it look to easy to kill people and I am wondering if the game play is even online. over all this game looks like a huge disipointment and a let down that I thought, shame on them. :cry:

I thouroughly enjoyed the Battlefront SW games, they were somewhat balanced, and were quite enjoyable.

However, these Lord of the Rings add-ons really kill this game. I don't know whether I'll give it a chance.

The only thing I'm looking forward to is playing a multiplayer campaign like in the Star Wars Battlefront game, the Rebels versus the Empire. If they don't include something like this I'll refuse to buy it
