I've finished painting my Harry the Hammer which I bought on the 26th April and overall am quite pleased with him other than the odd area of thick paint which I admit isn't very good

Here he is (credit to Hawkmoon for supplying me with the plinth

)

But where are all the skeletons on the base?

Don't like them, I think they look terrible to be honest so I left them off, but it's all a matter of opinion.

I am famous (infamous?) for not being a Warhammer fan, but you have made a pretty good job on the painting and presentation, making the most of the sculpt. I know nothing about skeletons on the base so no preference there one way or the other.

If the paint was too thick in this case, dilute it slightly and try to spread it as evenly as possible.

The only comment I got is that the snow on the base looks a little thin (and the red looks a little odd but I can't find out what's the cause of that). Mix some snow flock with PVA glue and put that on the base with an old brush. It will have some volume and therefore a more realistic look. And put some snow on the stones as well.

A great model with a fine paintjob!

Nice model, in fact your best to date. I too don't like the base that this mini comes supplied with and don't blame you for not using it. As for the plinth I never tried to take the credit for its creation. I merely gave a friend something he wanted.

Sarcon - I tried that originally but my mix dried and went hard almost instantly. This was my first try using snow, could you suggest what I did wrong, how I should mix the flock and PVA? Thanks a lot

Hawkmoon - I know you didn't try to take the credit, it's my fault really

I find the best way to mix snow is to use Baking Soda, try mixing it with pva but add water to the pva and make a paste and then apply it to the base with something like an artists spatula. I bought one cheap from an art store just for that purpose, then whilst the mix is still wet sprinkle on more baking soda just like you would sprinkle sand onto pva and then leave to dry overnight. Once dried then just blow off any excess baking soda et voila realistic sparkling snow effect.
