A lot of this was recently discussed in a thread called something like "Is Misty Mountains Overpowered".

pros include: lots of cheap troops, undercosted Blackshields, 2 powerful but cheap epics, several EHtK monsters eg Dragons, cheap cavalry

cons include; limited leader choice, no darkness casters

Hi, my first army for WOTR was a moria army:

I agree with the others above, and yes they are a fun army to battle with, good luck building yours!

I can see it now, but I think you need more troops.

Probably! But I don't really play moria anymore so don't want to pay for anymore! And besides I have loads of other stuff needs painting.

I think that holds for EVERYONE starting out in WotR. It's also GW's sales mantra.

My first WE and Dol Guldur armies were each Hero heavy just so I could hit 1000 points.

That is right for my Angmar, but I have absolutely loads of Mordor and Fallen Realms troops from SBG, as I kept getting more for years and years, things were cheaper then

Although, the spiders and warg are all common formations for misty mountains.

Try this for fun. Well its Halloween time. If you don't mind proxy's you can pick up tons of spiders and mice and paint them. Try and make these.

Giant Spiders
Wargs
Spider Queens
Spider Broodlings
Bat Swarm

You can buy some Poker Chips for bases (They are 40mm) or put them directly on a tray. A CD for Monsters.

Whenever I get the urge to start a new army, I begin figuring out how to make it using the available sets of historicals. Thankfully WGF ripped off the Angus McBride Orcs from Merp so there are some options for Evil armies too.

Hmm, I bet I could convert those into Black-shields easily enough :P (discount stores can provide all the toy Spiders I need for my common choices!)

I could not do that because the most frequent place for me to play is GW, and that would not be allowed :(

Is the key to a Moria army lots and lots of Goblins?
