First off, apologies, I know this is probably annoying. I haven't painted in several years and my knowledge of the models is very limited. I am having difficulty actually finding out what this model is that I got several years ago. I won it in a national competition, I don't remember the year. I was a lot younger, and I made second in the state of Tennessee for the young bloods category. One of the prizes I got was, what I assume is a limited edition, figure. I'll describe it first, and I am being 100% honest. I think it is invisible Frodo. From what I remember, that is correct. I scoured the internet trying to find it, but had no luck. It isn't the clear plastic/resin one. This one is just a metal base with a few rocks and some footprints. Comically, I actually saw someone make a joke about this exact model on accident. They were making fun of the concept of "invisible frodo" from the clear resin model that was released by photoshopping out the model itself so that there was only a painted base. That is PRECISELY what this model is. Just a base. It's metal, and has slight indentations of feet prints. I am not sure how rare, or legitimate this model is. But I am sure that someone out there has an idea, and I think this is the best place for answers. Also, to my knowledge, it was handed out by hand at the store when the winners were announced. There isn't a blister pack. I'll show you a picture of it, so that there is less doubt. (It is unpainted) I'll attach it, and send a link to photobucket: http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/f ... hoto-1.jpg Thanks in advance for ANY help that can be given |

I believe it is called "Frodo wearing the One Ring" and was special edition model given out to competition winners and it is very rare. There are pictures of a painted base in Miniman's Unofficial LOTR Collectors Guide which can be downloaded from here: http://gondolin.miniman.hu/pdf/unofficial_lotr_collectors_guide_2.6.pdf |

Indeed. I received one for winning my category as well....Oddly enough, in the state of Tennessee. As far as I know, it was never made available for purchase, unlike some of the other "limited edition" miniatures. |

That really helps a lot, thanks very much . I was very confused by my inability to find anything on the internet. I mean, really. I don't mean to sound like a prude, but I am planning on selling this. Does anyone have a rough estimate of how much it would go for? Thanks again, as always. |

LotrCrown wrote: ebay it right could get you £50 ($80) You're kidding, right? I understand about rarity and such but $80? Slap some glue and sand on a base, press in some hobbit feet you hacked off the plastic Frodo from the MoM set (not much other use for him ) and the results will pretty much be the same. Sure...someone "made this" and it's "rare" but if you're not careful you're going to end up gluing some model onto it when you forget that it was special and you'll never eve notice. Now if you won this or inherited it, awesome! But if you actually paid $80 for it uh, I mean... (not really ) |

I have to agree to Beowulf. Its 'cute', if you have one and won it, but I wouldn't pay a $1 for it. I mean its little better than a standard blank base. I'd just keep it as a memento if I was you... |

Dont give gw ideas for an invisible frodo. We probably wont get the clear resin one like last time but an empty blister with a base! I would keep it as a keepsake as, whilst it is something diehard fans would relish, personally I wouldnt buy it |

Whilst I'd like one I wouldn't pay 50GBP for one. |
