I'd just thought I'd pass on our little group's agreement's about playing Mordor (we don't like house-rules).

#1 (I've mentioned this before) - When choosing the army you may not have more Ringwraiths than Winged Nazgul.
#2 If you choose Gothmog you must choose the Witch King of army as one of your Ringwraiths/Winged Nazgul
#3 You may not cast 'Strength throu gh Corruption' on any but your own units.

Playtesting seems to show that these three little 'agreements' go some way to toning down Mordor (I still feel guilty of choosing 6 Ringwraiths when playing my friend's 9 year old son during the holidays).

Put another way, you need to have one Winged Nazgul for every (Epic Hero) Ringwraith.

Wrt to the traumatized 9 year old, my only defence is that his father is my regular opponent who has beaten me with a 5 Wraith Mordor army regularly for two years. Said son wanted to play, with his father, a Good army. 'Revenge' entered my thoughts. Plus when the kid was 8 he thrashed my Gondor with a Mumakil in two turns.

Perhaps I need help :)

Hi BoromirofIpswich, looks like a perfectly good set of houserules. All I'd add (since you are houseruling spells) is that any Evil player with a shred of decency shouldn't be using Wings of Terror either.

My only concern with your approach is I'd suggest it will be 'whack a mole' as people shift around based on houserules that focus on some issues but not others but Mordor is definitely the most egregious when played a certain way....

I'm sure the small child received a valuable lesson, or something

The best way to balance Mordor is to just play lower points games I think.

I played Wraiths without casting spells before. Their special rules are still awesome.
Disallowing Morannon Orcs helps too.

lol @ pwned 9 year old. Nice one!

It amuses me that your group dislikes houserules and yet you have 3, but renamed as a gentleman's agreement, lol :D

The first two seem quite good and the third like it's purely for balancing. I don't understand why one out of 9 armies can't cast it on their opponent, especially when it's one of the most callous ones.
