I understand a lot of forums carry out community Rp's, i'm just wondering if anyone is interested in that sorta thing here? A community Rp is basicallly a story which is created by lots of users posting a new section one after the other, with each user generally taking the place of only one or two characters. We could maybe do an "alternate fellowship" rp in which nine of us take the place of the fellowship and re-form the tale how they think it should have gone (passing through rohan instead of moria, hiring glorfy instead of merry and pip etc etc) Obviously more than nine people could do it, there are alot of characters to be taken (theoden, saruman, gothmog etc etc) If anyone is interested, make yourself known UPDATE: The rp has begun but please feel free to join in whenever you want here is the link to it:http://www.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=21581 If you fancy like joining the rp it might help for you to read through the entire rp up to where you want to join, just so you understand whats going on and everything. Throughout the rp there may be certain times when i feel what you posted is inappropriate so i will message you asking you to edit your post, or i may rectify your error by writing a way around what you did. Here is an example of things you should not do: God mod: This just means rp'ing a character that is way too powerful I.E:Killing 26 goblins if i send 30 at you. The only way i will allow this sorta thing is if you do it intelligently I.E: Pouring a barrel of oil into a group of enemies then shooting them with a flaming arrow. Even so everyone will get a bit annoyed if your constantly coming up with genius ways to avoid all the combat :p |

Was an admin on an rpg website, so I'm in. Quick question: does it have to be someone named in the books/films? |

I'm interested too, I think I'll join this too. By the way, I also like the idea of a battle company. |

I had an idea for a LOTR RPG campaign setting a while ago - see what you think to this... The story starts in the newly rebuilt town of Dale, in the north of Middle-earth near the Lonely Mountain and the Elven kingdom of Mirkwood. An emissary from Sauron has approached Dain, King under the Mountain, for news of a thief called "Baggins" who was known to be friends with the Dwarves. Dain seeks advice from the men of Dale as to what to do, and it is decided that a party of stout-hearted adventurers would set off to the Shire to warn Bilbo that the Enemy is looking for him. The band could consist of Dwarves, Elves and Men and would have to cross through Mirkwood, the Misty Mountains and the Trollshaws to reach the Shire. But... they are being followed by the servants of Mordor, so perhaps they take a more scenic route. |

MMmm, I want to know more about the villians chasing them, I would guess the emissionary to be the Mouth of Sauron or one of his 'pals'. |

It would have to be a human emissary, or one that used to be human at some point in the past otherwise the Dwarves would never speak to him. I was thinking of the Mouth of Sauron, since he's pretty scary but not as terrifying as a Ringwraith. He would have allies in Mirkwood of course and might well be the person who orchestrated Gollum's jailbreak from the Elves. The downside is that if he was involved then there's no way the party could kill him since he appears at the Black Gates at the end of the original story (assuming we care about that sort of thing). Perhaps the Mouth has lesser servants of his own who are sent to follow the Adventuring Party and report back to him. Or perhaps he sends his minions on ahead hoping to intercept the adventurers along the banks of the Anduin while he follows behind. |

Best thing to do is decide who will be the GM - they then get to decide the NPCs and the plot. If we do go with the current plot that's being suggested: rather than the Mouth of Sauron, why not a Black Numenorean instead - they're the same thing, except we have a chance of defeating him (although we equally may not succeed). |

I like the Idea Dagorlad, may i nominate you to be the GM, since this is your idea after all? |

Always a GM, never a player! That is the sad tale of my Role Playing experience. But unfortunately, I can't spend any time on this since I have none to spare. So I am sorry, but I will have to gracefully bow out of it. I will enjoy watching your progress along the way, but feel free to go in any direction you want with it - don't be bound in any way to my story setting idea, other than as a starting point (if you want to use it). The best RPG sessions are those that take unexpected directions and start to make the GM sweat! Cheers. |
