Anyone think this would be possible? Basing it on the new books by Brian Herbert you could even play battles from the Butlerian Jihad. Anyone think this might be a fun idea?

Don't let the son have all the credit! The original Dune and the first Dune novels were writen by Frank Herbert (Brians father), and are among the very best Sci-Fi books ever!

There are computer games that can help you (Dune 2 was the first Real Time Strategy game ever made if i'm not mistaken!). Of course there is also the movie from David Lynch, featuring Sting himself , and the more recent Dune series from the Sci-Fi Channel. Those can help you getting an idea of the types of terrain involved, units and visual aspect of the characters, armies, equipment, and vehicules.

I've got a VERY rough draft of some rules (profiles, weapons, etc) drawn up and was wondering if anyone would be interested in seeing them? Maybe playtesting. My big weakness is points costs. I have no clue how to assign them and since that's how we balance the game, that could be a problem.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll see about getting a PDF up here somewhere.

Sounds cool.
I've been thinking about sculpting some dune mini's for fun myself.
